Stop Discrimination. An Open Letter To The President by ndianaasuquo(m): 11:08pm On May 02, 2016
OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
(PRESIDENT MUHAMADU BUHARI GCFR)
CHANGE: This was the wishes hovering from all desperate corners of the populace prior to the 2015 election. The loud cry of the downtrodden reverberated into the shackles of the political dogma that resisted socio-political and economic development of the country (almost perpetually).
Due to the frustration occasioned by economic backsliding and the high rate of unemployment that engulfed the country for countless years, the agitation for the change campaign knew no bounds of discrimination as people of all ages, gender and tribes participated diligently to oust the previous government responsible for orchestrating unbearable atrocities, hardship and depravity on the guiltless masses. This victimized masses, majority whose ages where above thirty and mostly unemployed citizens that were perennially marginalized from their early years of graduation translated their conscience into victory at the polls with the hope of giving positive change a place of permanence.
The clarion call to alleviate the encumbrances of distressed Nigerians to the land of milk and honey was saddled on you, Mr president, a vibrant and no nonsense technocrat.
Upon assumption of your official duty in office, you have unhesitatingly deployed innovative strategies to curb corruption and resuscitate our depleted economy by creating job opportunities for the helpless and unconnected citizens of the country.
However, it has come to our notice that some unscrupulous agents of corruption are disguising under the agencies of the federal government to thwart your effort by implementing obnoxious and unconstitutional policies in order to disenfranchise the unrepresented Nigerians on the basis of age. It is on record that the Nigerian navy last year conducted a recruitment exercise with the age limit set at 28 as the prerequisite condition for employment of graduates. So far, this policy is rapidly gaining undue popularity as it has been unceremoniously adopted by states like Edo, Akwa Ibom, Kaduna etc. vacancies for employment into their respective agencies were only favourable to people under 30years of age. In a country where no single political appointee or any elected officer is below this age limit.
The ongoing recruitment exercise of applicants by EFCC under the age limit of 27 is a radical departure of our constitutional requirements and a complete disregard to the merit policy as expressly stated in section 42(2) of the 1999 constitution as amended, which provides that, “no citizen of Nigeria shall be subjected to any disabilities or restrictions”. so therefore, the ironical interpretation of this section by various governmental agencies is a negation of the grand norm principle and thereby depriving citizens the right to contribute their quota to the development of the society simply because they are over 30.
Statistics shows that 70% of poor parents who are able to train their children in school up to university education cannot do so within 27years due to the number of offspring’s in the family as each child is trained one after the other through tertiary institution. Also the rigorous process of getting university admission due to the minimal opportunities available is an inevitable aspect of delay, not to mention self sponsored graduates. It is on record that over 10,000 graduates are produced yearly with the government only providing 1% job vacancies, leaving the rest to languish in the unemployment sector.
It is on the aforementioned basis, the Technocrats Alliance For Democratic Dividends(TADD) are compelled to intercede for the general public so as to abate this discrimination by appealing to you, Mr. president to use your good office and reverse this calculated attempt by some elitist sect to prejudice the sons and daughters of the less privilege parents.
We also solicit to our lawmakers to expedite proceedings inorder to disarm any conduct or legislation that may be supporting this hideous act.
Thank`s for giving this letter its due consideration.

Your`s Sincere.

National Chairman (TADD)
