The umbrella body of indigenous tribes in the Middle Belt, Conference of Autochthonous Ethnic Communities Development Associations, CONAECDA has claimed that “most of the attacks carried out by Fulani herdsmen are done with the prior knowledge and approval of the Hardo (Fulani chiefs) in the areas as well as with support by Miyetti Allah Cow Breeders’ Association of Nigeria, MACBAN.”

In a statement issued in Jos and signed by the group’s Secretary General, Suleiman Sukukum, the body lamented that “despite the large scale massacre of innocent villagers, kidnappings, cattle rustling and armed robberies carried by these criminals who identify themselves as Fulani herdsmen, the government and their organizations have insisted that the solution to the conflicts is the creation of grazing reserves; and labeling our communities as intolerant and unaccommodating.”

The Secretary General noted that it was worrisome that “the attackers tend to focus their attention on river valleys, highlands and mountain ranges, forests and hills with grave implication to the security of native communities and the nation. ”Vast lands belonging to Autochthonous peoples such as the Berom, Tiv in Taraba, Northern Banks of the river Benue are now occupied by Fulani herdsmen after dislodging the native populations. Such areas are now Fulani territories and natives are not allowed into such areas.” “Government officers seem to be divided or lack clear understanding of the issues, while politicians out of their desire to be politically correct shy away from the realities of the dangers confronting this nation, a national crisis of unimaginable proportions is brewing and is complicated by the involvement of some bad eggs in the security agencies who are sometimes involved in the ongoing conflicts. The solution to the problem is not the creation of Fulani territories on our land but using every legitimate means to ensure our right to indigenous lands is protected in line with the relevant United Nations resolutions.”.

This is exactly their plan!! they will meet their waterloo in the south. They have already taken whole towns and villages in the middle belt and are now trying to push their exploits down south

So why join them in issuing a statement to condemn southerners. The sooner the middlebelt start aligning with the southerners the better it will be for them.

The 1 that pained me most is that their governors was among the 19 nothern governors that debunks the claim that Agatu killings & Nimbo community killings wasn't done by Fulani Herdsmen.

It is in the interest of the middle belt to align with the South. The northerners will not care that you voted for them when push comes to shove.
The south is already getting ready for these marauders. The middle belt needs to shut up and act fast! Ortom is the biggest fool here. It took him forever to make a statement or visit Agatu when the massacre took place with the death of 300+ but see what happened when they touched Enugu even though less than 50 were killed.
The individual states in the middle belt must know where their interests lie and align accordingly.
A war is coming and anyone who is not ready will be slaughtered like a chicken.

You want the MB to join a losing 'alliance' and throw away their northern heritage because of security challenges that have been existent for decades?

You think the North is not also looking for a solution to this crisis? You think 'middle-belters' are emotional, impulsive and politically tactless like the Isreali hard workers? Wake up and smell the coffee mate.

Listen to yourself. These needless clashes have been ongoing for decades, no wonder there's no single MBeltan alive today...no be so?

We are all northerners and we will defeat this cancer together, just like we are defeating a much bigger and worse Boko Haram.

It is appalling an pathetic that your Govs attended a meeting where the Northern Governors issued a communique that says we dare not call the murderous Fulani herdsmen names.

Start by demonstrating to your Govt Houses and ask him to apologise to you, over his insensitivity to you pain and plight.
