President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, in Abuja, said the process of recovering stolen funds had become tedious.
The President made the statement while receiving the Executive Secretary of United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime, Yury Fedotov, and stressed that the process had “become tedious” to the consternation of Nigerians.
He urged the UN agency to facilitate faster recovery of the stolen wealth stashed abroad. “We are looking for more cooperation from the EU, United States, other countries and international institutions to recover the nation’s stolen assets, particularly proceeds from the stolen crude oil,” the President said, according to a statement issued by Garba Shehu, his spokesman.
“It is taking very long and Nigerians are becoming impatient,” he added. Buhari told Fedotov that his government had worked very hard in the past 11 months to reverse the very negative global perception of Nigeria.
He said: “Our genuine efforts to deal with corruption and drugs have earned us international respect and this has encouraged us to do more.
“We know that by fighting the scourge of drugs and corruption and rebuilding trustworthiness, integrity, good business practices and imposing discipline on youths to avoid drugs, we are not doing a favour to the international community; we are doing a favour to ourselves.”
Fedotov told Buhari that UNODC had chosen Nigeria as a pilot country for support and cooperation in the fight against drugs and corruption.

It might not be easy to recover but a lot of PDP people will go to JAIL. Jonathan's jail is after the first term of Buhari.

They are under a curse. They will cheer the people who stole their future and made their children slaves to other children. Tribalism is more serious than anything. Watch what is happening now, the serious power outage, Naira crash and unemployment was caused by six years of misrule. Any foreigner will tell you when you mess up an economy this year the effect will be felt five years down the line, yet these people still worship the clueless one who caused it all.
It is a big stronghold in the minds of Nigerian bred PDP supporters . I am not sorry for them o. The next few years will give everyone his own punishment

Looking at all the amounts so far released by Efcc,Dss and APC card carrying members, it is safe to assume that over $300 billion has so far been recovered in the last 10 months of fighting corruption head-on.

10 months and pa Buhari is already mentally and physically exhausted? Someone should inject the ol man with steroids cos fighting corruption is the only thing that won him election.

Wailing Mourners up there are still mourning their loss at the last polls.

Instead of reading the article and understand the content, they rush to comment.

No P, seven more years of wailing and mourning.

There are two classes of looters. The dead and the living. The dead, recover their loots through The Hague. The living, cooperate with them and with carrots and sticks, to sign the repatriation themselves. Diezaini Allison Madueke promised to pay back Two Billion Dollars. Ask her for Three Billion Dollars, to fulfil other promises and be forgiven. Then the Three Billion Dollars, you share as follows: $120millions to FG and , $80millions to each of our 36State Governments. Nigeria and Diezani will live happily thereafter.

I pity ur likes.. Even d govt has admitted it hasn't been up and doing and yet some of U are stuck in the "Blame GEJ" loop.. D govt blames 16yrs of misrule which most of dem still in charge now oversaw. Unemployment, power outage, naira crash have all gotten worse due to some ill-advised economic policies d present govt put in place. It is obvious d govt is confused about what to do or not do with it's trial and error policies but ur likes see nothing in it. Ppl complaining is now seen and termed as PDP sympathizers by ur likes as though dey have no opinion of theirs. Well we are all in it together and are stuck for as long as dey'll b there.
