For the past 3 year i been running my hosting business on a small scale which i start from reseller package. which some host in Nigeria have really frustrated me. So i move to a vps, but as the year goes my vps is getting filled and the cost is almost close to the price of a dedicated server. so i decided to switch. i got some specs for dedicated server and i would like to know if spec really contribute to the performance of a server. below are the specs:

server 1:
Intel I3-540 Preconfigured
3GHz or faster - 1 processor
2 cores / 2 threads
8GB DDR3
500GB SATA

server2:
i5-750 Preconfigured
2.7 GHz / 3.2 Turbo - 1 processor
4 cores / 4 threads
16GB DDR3
500GB SATA

server3:
Dual Intel Xeon 5420 240 SSD Preconf
2.5Ghz - 2 processors
8 Cores / 8 Threads
16GB DDR2
240GB SSD

PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER THE DDR MEMORY & SSD HARD DRIVE

I recommend Intel Xeon.

Another thing to consider is Network Speed. Whats the speed like?

Xeon has more processing power than most others. Including Speed, and other outstanding hardware performances

I would look at my drives first, so I'll choose an SSD over Sata anyday.

reason: SSD is more real-time rugged, boots faster, etc...... than a Sata(wins on a price range)......although will wear out faster.

suggestion

why not go for a 2x240GB SSD...... I mean physically different SSDs(one main and one backup) not a 1-SSD with 2-partitions.
