Fuel Price Hike: Confusion, As NLC And TUC Disagree On The Way Forward by osinbanjoisaliar: 11:00am On May 12, 2016
On the StarFM 101.5 morning show with Moyo, three seperate calls were placed to three seperate members of organised labor; the NLC lagos chapter chairman, comrade Ayuba waba NLC president and TUC president Boboye Kegama
The NLC lagos state chairman, said that they were not aware or present at any stakeholders meeting organised by the FG and would agree on the way forward after the NLC meeting tomorrow
Ayuba waba,NLC president on the other hand, said that he was represented at the stakeholders meeting by the NLC sec-gen, due to him being out of the country on assignment. But that no agenda was set for the meeting by the FG. He further said that when kachikwu informed them of the FG's decision to hike the price of fuel, the representatives of NLC and TUC resisted the moves. He also confirmed that the NLC would reconvene at a meeting tomorrow were they would decide on the next course of action.
The TUC president, Boboye Kegama, on the other hand said that though they were present at the stakeholders meeting, they were not resisting the price hike in fuel. But want their agenda heard and looked at by the FG. They also would like to see palliatives and safety nets put in place to ease the impact of the fuel price hike on the people

God! How can we move forward with this kind of disorganized structure. If this is how all institutions and organizations carry out their duties haphazardly, then I doubt even the removal of subsidy can help us in the long run.
All government representatives should be carried along simultaneously. Please!

Nigerians should look beyond these mofos who has been settled and their children given top jobs at the CBN.

The protests must be spontaneous with no holds barred so that the anger of the people would be genuinely expressed against this rogue government. PDP should stay away, keep quite and not tint the revolution cos we see them as a different side of same APC.

Their voices have become incoherent now that they know they have been fooled. They rose in unison against Jonathan but now cower before Buhari.
Does this not validate the fact that there was more to the protests than meet the eye? The APC is in power now and their bodies have suddenly gone too soft to engage in the rigours of protest. Such double standard!

Both TUC and NLC seems to be nonexistent all this while, so, why won't they be confused!

The FG has confirmed that it is not a Deregulation, but actually a Liberalisation of the oil sector, in which it would now be easier for marketers to source for FOREX from wherever, inorder to import the refined PMS.

I thought some folks accused the then opposition party APC of organising the the labour to partake in the 2012 occupy nigeria protests.

I am still waiting for the new opposition party, the PDP to organise the labour and Nigerians to the streets for protests.

Nigeria has suffered double jeopardy in the last couple of months....lower crude oil prices resulting in lesser income and weakening naira....even lower purchasing power.

Governance is not static and a position or decision taken yesterday might not suffice for the realities of today. Hence the people against fuel subsidy removal four years ago can be in the fore front championing it's implementation now.

I cannot even see the removal as the solution to the perennial scarcity of petroleum products...we need to see our regulatory authorities doing their job ensuring the quality of the available products and accurate dispensing pumps.

Even top radio and TV personality Jimi of ClassicFM 97.3 today, took on a rude and brash approach, by blaming Nigerians, and saying that the price hike was good and that Nigerians deserve to be punished.
