A scientist, Dr. Cyril Grueter has reported the first occurrence of same sex zeal among female gorillas.

He learnt that majority of female gorillas engage in this same sex act when they are turned down by male gorillas and they derive sexual pleasure from this act.

Of the 22 female gorillas examined from 2008 to 2010, 18 engaged in sexual activity with other females, including 'genital rubbing,' 'genital closeness' and mating calls during intercourse.

He also added that the behavior of the female gorillas appeared motivated by sexual stimulation rather than attraction, and they are aroused by both males and females.

Dr. Grueter observed that the females that engage in the lesbian sex seek privacy by hiding in dense vegetation.

He said: "'Gorillas are closely linked to humans and we thought by looking at this behaviour we could learn a little more about our own evolution."
