I would like to know places where Muslims can hangout or connect with other Muslims preferably in Lagos on weekends, Sundays especially.

It might be programmes or anything but it's consistent.

What type of gathering and what activities?
I've learned not to look for places and activities that end up making me commit Bidah!
The Sunnah (Fiqh) is there to learn from, the Holy Quran too.
Why not learn to read the Quran instead or learn to speak Arabic.

Lots of people learn by listening to shuyuk, Uztaz, Mualim etc. Gathering for remembrance of Allah or lectures to benefit muslims is never mukruh nor haram. There are plenty ahadith in support of this. You only condemn those who might step off the line.

The gathering I was referring to is the gathering of knowledge not gathering of innovations.
Innovations and innovators are cursed on the tongue of Allah's messenger alyhissolaat wassalaam.

No one is sniffing around for innovations and innovators, it's not hidden. From The Sunday asalatu to the innovated gatherings of laylatul Qadri and isra wa miraj to the maolud nabiyy etc The people who practice these innovations do not hide them, so no one is sniffing around.
It's just that the truth has to be clarified to the people even if the people of innovation and desire do not love it!

That you can gather but others can't?

That your gathering is Sunnah and halal but others are bidah?

I don't personally go to as-salatus but what you doing is trying to find fault with others. Period. So all woman at as-salatu can't perform wudu properly?. Isn't that what you trying to get across?.

And there are still bunch of bearded learned men who fail wudu test. And that is "use of water". I'm sure you use excess water when you perform wudu. That's #1 failure. You just trying to make irrational point.

In simple terms, Salafy means someone who follows the best generation composing of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam, his Sahabahs, the followers/students of the Sahabahs... alternatively called the Salafs.

In short a Salafy = Ahl Sunnah= Sunni.

Simply the Qur'an and Sunnah according to the understanding of the pious predecessors (Salafs).
