Emmanuel Addeh in Yenagoa
The umbrella body of all youths of Ijaw descent,
the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, on
Monday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, warned that
unless the ownership structure of oil blocs in the
region was rearranged to ensure fairness, attacks
on oil platforms would continue.
President of the IYC, Udengs Eradiri, who spoke as
part of activities to mark this year’s Isaac Boro
Day, told newsmen at the Ijaw House, Yenagoa,
that the unfair distribution of oil wells was a major
cause of the instability in the region.

The Ijaw youths had earlier ordered the shutting
down of shops in the Bayelsa State capital as a
mark of honour for the late Isaac Adaka Boro.
“One of the most salient issues that if not
addressed will lead to more crisis is the issue of
the oil blocs. President Buhari was one time
Petroleum Minister and Head of State in this
country.
‘’Let us go and do an assessment of that time.
The time when criminally they shared our oil blocs
was under his watch either as Petroleum Minister
or as Head of State. It is in one of those times.
“Oil blocs were shared to one group. Look at it,
either the person (owner of oil bloc) was a former
military president or relative of the military
president or an in-law to a military president”,
Eradiri said.
The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), the new face of
militancy in the area, had last week Thursday
listed some oil blocs allegedly owned by former
Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Minister of
Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma, ex-Minister
of Petroleum, Alhaji Riwalnu Lukman and others.
The new militant group in the region had among
others issued them a two-week ultimatum to shut
down operations at the oil blocs and evacuate the
workers from the locations or have them blown
up.
Eradiri said that much of the indiscriminate
sharing of oil blocs were allegedly carried out
when Buhari served as Petroleum Minister or Head
of State.

This is a major revelation. So Buhari was the one who started the indiscriminate lopsidded sharing of oil blocks. No wonder Niger delta avengers sprang up under his second stint in power. They were simply waiting for him to begin their campaign. And people will come on NL and start alleging that it's due to the outcome of the 2015 elections, when it's all about redemption and freedom. Niger delta Avengers continue with your struggle, I now believe in your cause.

I support this in the spirit of fairness, the demands of the NDA is DOA of course as those were made by criminals.the oil bloc's were not awarded in a transparent manner by the military and I know PMB being a man of honour ,will also call for those licences to be revoked and fresh bidding done on those Wells.

The Tale of Presidential Aeroplanes

Obj had 11 presidential jets. Not one word said. Yoruba men are known for flying jests na abi? Like Fernandez etc.

Yar Adua had 11 presidential jets. In fact all were needed to ferry him from one hospital to another around the globe. In fact we hired air-ambulance as well. Fulanis are allowed private jets. They are Sarakunas.

GEJ had 11 presidential jets. They almost killed the poor ijaw man over it. So he does not know as Ijaw, all he is allowed is presidential canoe? TEMISAN UKOMI of Silverbird and Hitv then, an "area" that should be happy that a man from the creeks finally has entered AEROPLANE yehhhhhh!!! Began the attacks.

Buhari has 11 presidential jets. No more noise. A Fulani is entitled to presidential jets.

What does it matter that it is the oil in the Ijaw man's land that bought and fuel the planes? A minority is not allowed to have what others have SIMPLE!!!

Yeah, it was Buhari that allocated oil bloc to Atiku during the OBJ regime. He also allocated oil blocs to Danjuma during the Abacha regime. In fact, he allocated oil blocs to Kola Aluko and jide Omokore during the GEJ administration. Keep up blowing everywhere. When you blow up all the pipelines in your region and there's nothing else left to blow up again, you can blow up your father's houses.

Why then are people still painting buhari as the only saint both living or dead in Nigeria when verifiable data proves otherwise?

Nigerians currently own 52 per cent of the country’s 173 active oil blocs, while foreign oil companies own 48 per cent. He added that of the total of 388 oil blocks in the country, only 173 of them have been awarded to individuals and corporations, while 215 blocks were yet to be awarded. Broken further, of the 173 so far awarded, Nigerians owned 90 blocks while foreigners owned 83 blocks.

He, however, lamented that all the 90 blocks awarded to indigenous players account for only six per cent of the country’s total crude oil production, while the 83 awarded to foreign oil companies account for 94 per cent of the total output. Steering the hornets’ nest The Chairman, Senate Committee on Business and Rules, Senator Ita Enang, a forth night ago steered the hornets’ nest, when he alleged that 83 percent of Nigeria’s oil blocks were in the control of the northern region.

This led to a series of claims and counter claims by various groups in the different geographical regions in the country, including activists and non-governmental organisations, NGOs. Many even called for a review of oil block awards.

Even newspapers (not Vanguard) went agog with their own versions of the real oil block owners. However, DPR’s recent pronouncements on the issue that Nigerians own 80 oil bocks where foreigners had 83 have nullified every other previous pronouncements on the controversial oil blocks ownership, including the list of 77 oil blocks and their owners recently published by one of the dailies. Analysts are of the view that to end the controversy, the DPR should go a step further to publish the full list of the 173 oil blocks so far awarded, indicating who owned what, whether local or foreign.

If we are to re-distribute, the Agbami fields which accounts for the largest chunk of ND offshore oil, should properly be restored to the Ilaje people of Ondo state, who are geographically the rightful owners

President Buhari was one time
Petroleum Minister and Head of State in this
country.
‘’Let us go and do an assessment of that time.
The time when criminally they shared our oil blocs
was under his watch either as Petroleum Minister
or as Head of State. It is in one of those times.

That was then

This is a very reasonable demand but there is one mystery, what did GEJ and Dieziani do?
There will never be a better opportunity

They awarded to themselves via Kola Aluko, they awarded to Stella Oduah, Jim Ovia, DSP 'Alams', Tony Elumelu, and many others, the list is just right above . . .

And how many people in the north do the ones owned by Danjuma, Mai Deribe, Atiku, IBB benefit?
You go to the streets of northern cities and towns and you see beggers, street urchins, almajiris roaming and scavenging from wasge and dump sites yet their region boast of the controllers and owners of oil blocks.
What the IYC is asking for is justice, fairness and equity.

Which underscores the point I am making because a fool from ur village owns oil wells it in no way means you will be rich so a more sensible approach is to identify projects that will benefit all. Simple

They don't get it my brother. . . and it is a shame to be sincerely ignorant, actually dangerous.

All presidents from IBB to GEJ are guilty of awarding oil blocks to their cronies. And last time I checked, it's pure mix of friends and allies cutting across all tribes, parties, and gender.

Oil prospecting and blocks can only be awarded to people that have the funds; not because it's your hometown. And they are leases and JVs, those companies don't own them in the real sense of the word (that's just some barbaric thinking).

Another childishly shallow assumption from a toddler who can't spell to save "its" life, who does not know what the PTF stands for or does. SMH.

Unfortunately these people have spend a huge amount of resources to misinform the public that even earth splitting post like yours will hardly make a dent on their gnorance. The elites they keep fighting for only know themselves they belong to one tribe.

And blow u aswell
