Cattle Night Grazing Banned In Enugu by Nobody: 6:40am On May 17, 2016
Grazing and rearing of cattle at night was yesterday banned in Enugu State after a meeting between Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and leaders of Fulani/Shuwa Arab herdsmen in the state.

Also banned are the carrying of firearms or any form of ammunition by the herdsmen and movement of cattle from one location to another at night in the state.

This decision was arrived at during a peace committee meeting made up of representatives of the various interest groups from the Fulani/ Shuwa Arab Community and representatives and security agencies, among other stakeholders in the state.

During the meeting convened by Ugwuanyi, and also attended by leaders of some communities affected by the herdsmen menace in the state, it was also decided that compensation would be paid by herdsmen whose cattle destroyed farm crops while the communities would pay for any cattle killed by their members.

Ugwanyi had convened the meeting in furtherance of ongoing efforts by the state government to find lasting solutions to the lingering clashes between Fulani herdsmen and their host communities,
especially in the wake of the recent Nimbo killings.

According to the decision, violators of these resolutions would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Present at the meeting were the secretary of the Fulani Community in the state, Bala Ardo, the leader of the Fulani community, Alhaji AdoSaidu Basu, and the leader of the Shuwa Arab community in the state, Alhaji Ahmed Yahaya, while the traditional ruler of Ibute Nze led leaders of three communities of Akpakwume, Ezi Nze and Ibute Nze communities in Udi council area of the state who also attended the meeting.

I hope spineless Ortom can take a cue from this and ensure strict enforcement and compliance. He should also empower local vigilante to check strange movements by the fulani marauders and neutralise them where necessary.

God bless alaigbo for this good move.

Very Good.
Where's dat slowpoke of a Governor called Ortom?
Here's Governor ifeanyi that most people criticised as weak after he declared fasting and prayers. He is now being decisive and carrying out his duty as the commander in chief of the state.
Bt for Ortom, u no go see am. Why is benue state cursed with bad Governors. From Akume to Suswan to Ortom, their failures are hits back to back.

The Fulanis will simply DISREGARD this resolution,

& continue to pursue their age-old agenda.

Benue should make up their minds, & become politically ALLIGNED with the South, like Kwara, & quit pretending to be North, only to be used to achieve the Fulani agenda.

After CRUSHING BIAFRA does Benue produce Generals again? Nobody's neutral, especially when you don't have the numbers, location, & resources. The Fulani agenda is real.

States should come up with laws that supports their existence.

Come to think of it.
If serious pronouncements of this nature results from mere peace meeting of interest groups, why exactly do we need state assemblies and the huge cost of running them?

The herds men should not be allowed to graze on any land that does not belong to them. Get your own ranch!

Cattle rearing was not banned in Abia pls. The state govt revived the Bakassi for security and established a herdsmen/farmer committee for the state to settle issues. Enugu here is only placing a restriction, not total banning. I'm against the nuisance of these fulani herdsmen but at the same time, we're all still in one country, Nigeria so let's Stick to the facts.

Violence is not even necessary.

Activate strong political alliance with the South, just like Kwara people, & build up Universities for human capital, etc.

Can anyone consider Bishop Oyedepo a Northerner?

Benue's Agriculture is a powerful base for Economic Development. But Benue people MUST THINK like southerners, just kwara people.

I'm beginning 2 believe Benue State Governors derive nourishment from the blood of their Subjects murdered by Fulani herdsmen. The state houses of assembly is an embarrassment..not a single motion from them to strengthen the Benue state vigilante service..fools!
