Fuel Subsidy Removal: NLC's Hypocrisy And Senselessness by Nobody: 5:48pm On May 19, 2016
Have you ever asked yourself why it is only the issues bordering around fuel NLC only takes to heart and gets serious about? Ever heard of NLC declare strike actions because of bad roads, epileptic power supply, inadequate security, excessive salaries and allowances of the National Assembly members and the inability of some states to pay workers salaries even when such states have received bail-out funds from the FG?

There is some kind of ulterior motive behind this subsidy removal protest. Where was NLC when the 2016 budget was passed without any provision for subsidy? Oh... They were sleeping, abi? Useless people who have lost touch with the realities.

Anyways, Nigerians are just tired of doing the same thing the same way in the oil sector, hence, have decided to try this deregulation policy and see where it leads us. With the huge monies allocated to subsidies in the past, fuel crisis has refused to go. Govt has tried to explain why the subsidy policy cannot be sustained due to the prevailing economic realities, yet, NLC members because of their selfish interests, want to continue with the status quo. Some of their members are oil marketers who are feeding fat on the subsidy money.

Well, nothing lasts forever. There has to be an end to a carnival no matter how interesting it is. NLC has met its match in the person of GMB. And if care is not taken, the leadership of the Union will regret its actions because this strike is illegal. NLC should rather fight for wage increase and put the govt on its toes to implement the palliatives outlined in the budget within the material time.

On a lighter note, now that the NLC has been fractionalized and fragmented, which of the factions do we recognise as representing the masses? And I am sure they broke into factions because they cannot manage their affairs properly, how much more those they claim they represent. A house divided against itself cannot stand. NLC died the moment Oshiomole left!
