The Ondo state Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has declared that his administration would not support the establishment of grazing reserve areas in the state, asserting that the proposed grazing reserves issue does not align with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

He spoke in Akure, the state capital, during a public lecture at the weekend organized by members of Pan-Yoruba socio- political group, Afenifere, to mark the 90th birthday of their leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

Mimiko stated that the grazing reserves bill might not see the light of the day because the nation’s constitution empowers state governors to allocate land or revoke same.

He lamented that while there had been several calls on the need to amicably resolve clashes between landowners and herders so that it does not degenerate into what can cause serious crisis, the more the calls were coming, the more fresh crises are caused by people from a section of the country.

According to the Governor, “The question now is for how long shall we continue to call for peace in the face of the prevailing situation; definitely something has to be done.

“No law has vested power on any person, be it a commission or whatever name it is called to take land for any use without the approval of the governor.”

Another one bites the dust!!!

Slowly but surely, it shall be eventually conveyed unambiguously,to buhari and his fulani brothers that irrespective of party affiliation or not, there is no free land available, anywhere in yorubaland for grazing reserves.

Good one from mimiko.
Those who want to raise cattle should buy animal feed and keep their animals within ranches.
This is why I am against any coastal road that cuts anywhere near our sacred forests and reserves.

Oyo State governor backtracked on his original statement of not accommodating grazing areas in the state for Fulani Herdsmen....he is implementing grazing areas for them.My own is I think he may have been coerced after his original statement. It does seem like truly Fulanis own Nigeria.

Sadly Yoruba leaders are shameless.I only see Fayose and Mimiko not giving into grazing reserves.Lagos also may not give in due to her not having enough land. Oyo is already gone...so it's only left for Osun and Ogun state which I think they will bow to pressure. embarassed
