The Senate leader, Ali Ndume, has cautioned the
Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and the Indigenous
People of Biafra (IPOB) to desist
from violence, saying that Nigeria will not
separate through acts of violence.

Responding to
questions on the rising agitation in the oil region
of Southern Nigeria and the South Eastern
Nigeria, Ndume said it was through the act of
negotiation among the youths of northern and
southern Nigeria that Nigeria became one
country and not by force.

He therefore said if there should be division in
the country, there must be negotiation among
the different parts of the country rather than
through violence and killings of innocent
Nigerians and destruction of public property.
He also regretted that the elders of the region
have not adequately advised their youths,
pointing out that young people cannot be
claiming to represent the elders of the region
when those elders are still around and active.

He however said he has no problem with people
expressing their opinion, but warned that it will
not be proper for some persons to suppress
other peoples view.

Also reacting to the call by
the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku
Abubakar, that Nigeria needs to be restructured,
Ndume said the ex Vice President was not
wrong, but pointed out that he was only
expressing his views to which he is entitled.
At this point, he said the Senate will work hard
to ensure that it meets up with the request from
the President that the National Assembly passes
Anti Money Laundering Act Amendment bill,
which the executive had earlier forwarded to the
Senate.

He also said the Senate will also ensure that
other request from the President, including the
ratification of treaties, passage of the Federal
Capital Territory Budget, among others, are
passed before the end of the first year of the
8th Senate.”

Such vaunted thinking: young people there cannot claim to represent the elders who are still alive? Who tell him elders translate leadership. And that they way u carry along in ur place will likewise be imitated everywhere.
BTW did they tell him the elders are saying a different thing
