The Technicians for Africa course offers a complete online learning system that will teach you about Cat® products. The course is sponsored by Caterpillar, the global leader in construction and mining equipment. In just 3-6 months you can achieve Foundational Certification and begin an exciting journey towards a possible career as a well-paid and highly valued service technician in the automotive, trucking or heavy equipment industry.

The free online courses all serve as an introduction to the knowledge required to become a fully trained technician. Caterpillar is renowned for the training that it provides its employees and by signing up for the Technicians for Africa course, you will receive free access to the exact same training materials that our own employees receive when they join our company.

Upon completing the course, you will receive a certificate of completion that acknowledges you as a Foundational Level 1 and Level 2 certified technician. You can use this within the broader mining and construction market to apply for jobs or you can apply at Caterpillar for a job (while we won’t be able to hire everyone that completes this course, we will definitely be keeping a lookout for bright future employees).

The first part of the course is dedicated to an introduction to our brand. Here you will learn about the Caterpillar history in the market, Cat engine lines as well as the machine product line. In the second part of the course, you will be exposed to technical content surrounding hand and power tools, fasteners, lifting devices, seals, wiring harnesses, couplings and fittings, personal protective equipment as well as contamination and parts handling.
