1. Buhari was asked a complex question by an American female journalist from the audience that mentioned inclusiveness. He didn't really understand the question and he sought clarification from the host on the stage with, who whispered something inaudible in his ear.
To be honest I also didn't fully understand the question.

2. Buhari said that it is a political reality that you cannot treat a constituency that gave you 5 percent the same way as a constituency that gave you 95%, because you have to show some appreciation for the hard work put in by constituencies that helped get you elected.

3.He went on to add however that he stands by his motto of belonging to everyone and belonging to nobody.

4.He also added that he couldn't treat any constituency differently even if he wanted to because the Nigerian constitution forbids it.

5. He never mentioned any regions by name so how the the ND militants know he was ascribing the 5% to them beats logic.

Save your analysis. The people you are trying to educate have read that statement more than you and know what it really means in the context in which it was said. They however prefer to spread the 5% dichotomy around because it helps their course. Till forever, they will continue to quote it out of context the painful part is that even the enlightened ones are involved

So why are they getting upset if he spoke the truth?
Or do they expect him thank them for giving him 5%?

Op, the fact that u and Buhari were too slow to understand the simple question asked doesn't mean we're all confused. If nothing else, there was nothing remotely political or relating to the election results that he was asked; even the presenter that clarified the question for him did not refer to Nigerian politics.

The fact is that he heard of inclusive governance as regards the Niger Delta and he needed to clear the air quickly enough so no one is confused as to his winner takes all mentality. So as far as Buhari was and is concerned, he would be vindictive and not in any way include those from the regions who gave him low votes in any meaningful way.

As it stands, he has done only that which he feels constitutionally constrained to do ie ministerial appointments spread across the 36 states. Other appointments bound by federal character he has conveniently tilted in favour of those who gave him 97% of their votes.

You say he did not identify any region, in stating his 97/5% statistics but u remember he started his response by saying to the woman, 'I hope u have a copy of the election results'. It only means that the results clearly disclose which regions gave him less votes than others.

Sorry op but ur analysis is as weak n watery as they come, failing every credibility test. No good leader exposes bias of any kind no matter what, especially not to the public. That is not honesty, that is a bigotry, vindictiveness, petulance and daftness on display.

No citizen or region should be punished for their choice of political candidates. Do u have just one political party? Did he swear an oath to all Nigerians as President or only to preside over the regions that gave majority votes? You forget that d major part of the income for ds country comes from that region with 5% votes so why is he concerned about their resources and activities as we gave currently when you feel his justified to exclude them politically? Why is it a problem if dey declare Biafra or Niger Delta Republic?

His comments are still deplorable no matter how you want to dress it. No country is better for it especially when your leader tells it to your face about who he's willing to give preferential treatment.

I struggle with the worship of politicians by most who take it upon themselves to try absolve them of their inadequacies as humans rather than correct them when wrong. Blame your education and your lack of foresight to see that praising leaders even when they're wrong is akin to laying terrible precedents for future generations.

So just saying thanks or showing appreciation to a constituency that worked hard to elect him, amounts to punishing constituencies that gave him 5%
So they are bombing pipelines based on their assumed interpretation of the 5% comment (which was just a statement of universal truth) rather than any factual actions.

The pipeline bombing is a western conspiracy to sabotage our govt this 5% comment is one of few very weak watery excuses to claim there is a grievance where none exists in reality.

Who is this one trying to apply medicine after death? Buhari said what he said, the 5% heard him loud and clear and they have responded via the Avengers.. He's now in London looking for a way to placate them.

If they r upset then let them be. Ignore them and leave them totally. U can vote for one person if he wins or lose that doesn't make u an outcast.

Some stupid govs too acts like an idiot by ignoring some cities where they didn't win. They shld remember sometime in future the person or the party will need the region's vote or support.

He also did not exclude 5% states from bail out funds.

No matter how you try to spin it, the truth is that Buhari may the dumbest statement ever.
It doesn't make sense that a president of a multi-religious, multicultural and multiparty state like Nigeria should expresse obvious and plain sentiment using voting patterns.

A true Democrat knows that it isn't possible to get 100% percent support from all regions and all states, he knows that citizens have their choices but he never makes decisions on the basis of voting patterns and choice.

In 2011 the North East voted overwhelming against Jonathan but he didn't consider that rejection in his decisions, he treated them like the South East and South South that voted enmasse even in some instances more favourably.

He may not have mentioned any region in his statement but we aren't blind and daft not to know who he was referring to. He was careless even to ask the anchor if she has a copy of the election result, what does that say about him?

The 5% have moved on, they aren't even waiting on Buhari to provide them anything because they know he has nothing to offer even to the 97%. They know he is as empty as they come.

You and Buhari need to take a refresher course on the basic elements of democracy, it will help you a lot.

Op ur logic is flawed...
The president clearly was saying he will not treat those who gave him 97% of their votes the same way he'll treat those who gave him 5%.
And he is already implementing what he said by d way runs d country now especially in d area of appointments.
When he talked abt constitution forbidding him from discriminating, he was referring to appointment of ministers whereby the constitution provides dat each state must have at least one minister. were it not for dat constitutional provision, he would have appointed most of d ministers from d 97%ers.

Stop defending what is clearly wrong just because it's Buhari

I don't understand the OP.

PMB stated an indisputable fact. All those hurting can boil a stone for their sickness.

You cannot reap where you didn't sow. When one recalls the campaign of hatred and bigotry that the 5%ers ran against the President and their deliberate and myopically foolish decision to put all their eggs in one basket and completely reject the APC despite the fact that it was a strong contender and had a robust candidate, one realizes the PMB has even been magnanimous so far.

Yes you are 5%ers. Yes your region produces oil. Yes Nigeria (run by that 97%ers) owns the oil. Grab a rope and tie a noose.
