Below are different photo shots from the scene of the collapsed Makoko floating school in Lagos after heavy rainstorm.

The floating school which is situated in Makoko, Yaba area of Lagos, is Nigeria’s oldest slum and home to a population of roughly 80,000 residents, who over the centuries, have remained together to create an informal but fully working city-on-stilts at the edge of the Lagos lagoon.

The aim of the school was to generate a new, sustainable building system for Africa’s coastal regions and to reduce the stress of schooling on the mainland for children/inhabitants of the slum.
