Am planning to swap my freelander engine and gear to Camry engine and gear. My engine is still sound but I always have problem with the gear box. Have changed gear box twice and as at today I need a new gear box to put the car on the road.

I was advised to change both the engine and the gear to have rest of mind.

Anybody know the cost of the set and mechanic that do a good swap for me. Offcourse with AC.

I use Nissan gxe 2003. I have been having the problem of stalling. D the car has been scanned severally, yet d problem persists. Now, my rewire said I should change d brainbox and the coil with new one's. Could this be d solution of stalling? Tnx for ur reply

I don't want to sale the car. I only want the engine and gear box swaped. The engine is fine, no issue since I bought the car. The only issue I always have is the gear box. Have changed it twice and it need to be changed again. Instead of changing only the gear I want to change both. I understand the car will no longer be AWD after the swap but I don't mind.

The issues here are you're pouring good money into a terribly flawed SUV. The Landrover Freelander is one of the worst SUV's in recent times. Even worse than the Indian-built Mahindra, or the Korean-built Asia Rockstar, both dangerous, and unreliable SUV's.

It's not what you want to hear, but I'll tell it how it is - get rid of that Freelander. You'll waste a lot of money making an unreliable car more unreliable, and unsafe. It'll never be right, and there are other flaws connected to this British wreck.

If you truly love the series 1 Landrover Freelander (why would anyone even like this?) then I would consider a manual gearbox conversion. At least, it'll be a simple bolt-on job. Or alternatively, look into why your automatic transmission replacements are always going wrong. You're either destroying them by using the wrong fluids, poor driving style, buying "Nigerian modified" units, or your mechanic is giving you a snow job..

Because as unreliable as the Freelander is, I'm not aware of the automatic transmission being one of the failure-prone single assemblies.

A wrecked car has been Tagged as salvage in title and has been Tagged as a damaged car by the vin. And the buyer knows what he/she is buying . Because it is sold as is .
Most of this cars can't even be registered in the states .
Because they are not safe . Or they are total salvage sold by the insurance to people who need such cars to strip them down for parts.

But like you , Siena, gazzuzz suggested , he should sell the car .

Today I spoke to a mechanic in Fatal Atere close to Ladipo. The guy that gave me his number said he is expert in land rover engine swap. The mechanic told me he will swap with Rav 4 engine and gear. Old Rav 4 with injector and big gear. I think I will give it a try.

Why would anyone even consider a Toyota Carina II engine, and automatic transmission swap, in a Hyundai i10?

We're talking about a Kia Picanto clone, that comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox, mated to an I3 engine.
