Compiled by Abuzola Breaking fast with orange is wrong, please note it, many people think orange is the right thing to consume for breaking the fast after sunset. Please publicize it and God will reward you, if you break it with orange is not a big deal but the sunnah is Date if you can't get date then break with water, for every sunnah there is a reward for it Abu Dawud Book 13, Number 2348: Narrated Salman ibn Amir: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: When one of you is fasting, he should break his fast with dates; but if he cannot get any, then (he should break his fast) with water, for water is purifying. Masalam |

Abu Dawud Book 13, Number 2349: Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) used to break his fast before praying with some fresh dates; but if there were no fresh dates, he had a few dry dates, and if there were no dry dates, he took some mouthfuls of water. |

My dear bro though it is sunnah to break the fast with dates, you can with any other fruits you find or water as well. To say breaking the fast with orange is wrong is misleading and no faqih will say it is wrong. |
| Re: Breaking Fast With Orange Is Wrong, Please Note It by Abuzola(op): 11:06pm On Aug 29, 2009 |
If you read the content of my post you will get my message. Am not saying your fasting is invalid, if you can't get date then what about water ? Orange is the third option and you can see how surbodinate your reward for breaking will be. The topic title was a typo error due to my spontaneous compilation but i prefer to let it be like that so it can draw attention. |

According to the fiqh of islam as far as i know . The hadith cannot be taken to literally mean u cannot break with any other than dates and water. Also there is no reason or evidence to suggest your reward of fasting is going to be lesser cos you broke your fast with paw paw or biscuits. food is food and fruits are fruits. Apart from the unlawful food in islam i am not aware of any fiqh restrictionin type of food for certain times in islam. In fiqh there several rulings we draw from the statement of the rasul Haram Halal Permissible Mandub Makruh This hadith doesnt imply using other fruits as haram, the scholars of islam will draw the ruling of "Recomended" mandub which doesnt mean your reward will decrease or not increase. Thisissue is very trivial and not one we should make any issue out of at all oce the topic has been modified. @Abuzola you should not say you want to leave the topic like that when it is clear the topic is wrong and misleading. We are not sensational journalist who use such topic to capture attention , this is islam and misleading topics does more damge than good as some will not even bother to open the page. Please modify the topic bro. |

Everyone of you is correct, by Allah. You are guided according to your will, desire and submission. Allah says that He does not burden a soul more than the soul can handle. The soul of believer receives mercy that allows the little to stretch far beyond what it would, if not a believer. At the same time, if Allah Wills, the abundance of the disbeliever is made to be sqandered that it is never enough. Everything has its conditions and its exception(s). A person who leaves in a desert, without the abundance of fruits, water and dates may be adequate, and any other fruits may be luxuries way beyond the reach of all or at leat the almost all. No one should delay the breaking of the fast because there are no water and/or dates. Breaking the fast is a greater sunnah, a wajib than the particular halal thing you break it with. A ahadith of Muhammad that best explain relativity of things is the one that the best gift to give is water. But in a place like US or the west where runnng water is not a problem, an equally gift in the winter will not be cold glass of water but a fist full of "Dollar," especially in todays condition where the song "brother can you spare a dime," from the Money Money Title of almost 2 generations ago. Our religion is complete, let everyone practise it according to his/her ability, without the haram of the world of other nations. Lets encourage one another to practice more of the sunnahs, and of course the farida, and be gudes of conscience in a physical way to ourselves and for our fellow muslims, and indeed mankind. |

@lagosboy- You are very much correct, i also agree with you right from my first post of the thread that breaking other than date and water isn't a big deal, his fasting is valid. The topic title is indeed err and i can't modify it so lets leave it, let those who have common sense judge by its content and not the cover of a book. A person who break his fast with date or water is not the same with one who breaks with other fruits. The reward for breaking the fast will not be the same, the other one who breaks with date or water practised the sunnah, for every sunnah there is a reward for it. Note: one who breaks with other fruit other than date or water, his fasting is valid and will get his full reward for fasting, but that of breaking the fast its reward differ in terms of sunnah and non sunnah. This is the best explanation i can dispense. |
