The successor of Ayo Oritsejafor as President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has been announced.

Appointed as Oritsejafor’s replacement is the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Reverend Supo Ayokunle.

Ayokunle emerged the new president of CAN on Tuesday, June 14.

The Reverend defeated Elder Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement (MCCSW) with 54 votes to 28.

Outgoing CAN President, Oritsejafor, announced the result at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.

No matter what my people, united we stand divided we fall.. We Christians should stop castigating CAN in public. In this trying period all we need is unity. Do you think oda religions don't have issues too, but they settle it in private not to appear divided.
