Like someone rightly said, Ben Bruce should settle his issues and AMCON will have no right to still keep Silverbird on lock-down. We should try to take away sentiments and tribalism in our judgement of issues.

I suppose you didn't understand what happened.

Let me help you out.

Silverbird galleria was not on lockdown or will not be locked down. That's not how AMCON takeover works. It's not an osusu thing.

AMCON simply put up a new management for the company, hence they have re-opened for business today. Silverbird is now operating under a management supervised by AMCON for the purpose of recovering the debt owed.

That is what just happened.

I don't think it is political. Capital Oil was taken over at a time PDP was in power. I hope the Murray-Bruce brothers sort out this issue. Silverbird has provided quality service to citizens.

I just love the way Ben Bruce handled this issue is he did not politicise it but handled it strictly like a business set back. This is why I think its been resolved professionally.People must learn to handle issues professionally, even if you sense a political undertone, ignore that and keep moving on the track of business.

I passed in front of the place around 2pm and it was still locked with fierce looking mobile policemen roaming about.

Amcon has also put dirty inscriptions on the walls of the building all around indicating a takeover.

I just pity those who rented business outlets at the galleria. Their loss yesterday was not nice at all in view of the exorbitant amount they pay as rent.

If indeed Amcon reopened the place later yesterday, I'm sure its chiefly because of other business concerns using the place.

Statement above is not a correct one.

AMCON will not close down any company until the debtor pays. That's now how the law empowers them to operate.

Yesterday was just the take over. In. Couple of days, the company will open for normal business, but under AMCON's management.

And you know this because you're the director at AMCON.

How can Nigeria move forward when people like you ascribe every move to be a political crusade?

So if a school principal sends a student home for not paying their fees, you may likely say it is political.

Am amazed at the manner of some NL who jubilate over this company's predicament, even if u hate BMB wat about the lots of staffs he has, a frnd works with him, but feeds others from its pay.why hating? ?? wen u can't even manage ur recharge card selling shop.

Plssss guy, use ur brain to comprehend, not ur anus. No one is jubilating, we are just being happy that this isn't going unpunished like it had been happening. The guy owing loan since 2004, hian, that is too much, and 11billion for that matter. Gosh. Please learn simple economic, this huge amount are not supposed to end up in only 1 person account. Imagine if after 2004, he had paid the debts, and the money has been pump into some other businesses too. Thousands of other jobs will have been created. Say No To MONOPOLY

One of the Silverbird Group properties sealed in a receivership action by Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, has been re-opened.
Normal business activities resumed on Thursday afternoon at the Silverbird Galleria in Abuja following a takeover of the company’s properties in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt in the morning.

AMCON announced on Thursday, June 23, 2016 that it had taken over the assets of three of SilverBird Group businesses: Silverbird Galleria Limited, Silverbird Promotions Limited, and Silverbird Showtime Limited.
The three companies are companies are co-owned by Mr. Murray-Bruce and his brothers, Guy Murray-Bruce, Michael Murray-Bruce, as well as his son, Jonathan Murray-Bruce.
The latest move by AMCON came two months after the agency, established in 2010 to manage delinquent loans of big firms and individuals, appointed Muiz Banire as the receiver/manager of the companies, following an alleged failure to meet up loan obligations with Union Bank of Nigeria.
Banire is also the legal adviser of the ruling political party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Last month, the assets of Sani Dangote was seized... The brother of Aliko.

Jimoh Ibrahim was also seized a few days ago.

Are they also political opponents? If BMB paid his debt, there will be no issue. No one is persecuting him.

name them.

everything to you lot has political undertones.

do you know if there were written correspondence between AMCON and Bruce to pay up.

allow these people do their damn job without having to say it has to do with politics. do you know that if AMCON hadn't come to the rescue of union bank, that bank would have been distressed.

don't also forget how savannah bank and societe generale bank went down. it is also as a result of bad loans.

All over, because he is a popular politician..

There have been other people whose assets were seized with no noise.

Ben Murray Bruce had more than enough time to pay up.

Because of his popularity and the fact that he has been advising government on common sense economics but could not apply same to his firms.

Loans that he failed to service for more than a decade??

The chairman secured loan(s) in the name of the company. Have you wondered why it's the company's assets that were taken over and not BMB's? undecided

SB does not necessarily have to be a public liability to be an entity.

Amcon is taking over the properties (assets) of the company because of loan default.

Kindly note that taking over assets is not same as closing the company.

What Amcon is after is her funds. Not that they are trying to punish the company.

If the company resumes paying back what they owe, they can approach the court to reconsider the take over order.
