– The widely held failure by the President Muhammadu Buhari government in the last one year is earning him and his cabinet anger around Nigeria

– While asking the two of the ministers to resign, the anti-corruption crusader said Babatunde Fashola does not know why he is a minister

– He also said Kemi Adeosun, the finance minister is seriously overwhelmed and as a result, has exposed her incompetence

Babatunde Fashola, Nigeria’s power, housing and works minister, as well as Kemi Adeosun, the finance minister, have both become a mockery to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) said on Wednesday, June 29.

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, is being asked to resign or be sacked
CACOL, which recently declared President Muhammadu Buhari a failure, said the duo must be shown the way out as they have failed not just the government, but the people of the country who, one year ago, had high expectations.

Debo Adeniran, the head of the anti-corruption crusading body, said Fashola, a former governor of Lagos, has brought unprecedented darkness to the country due more to his oratory than knowing what actions to take for the rejuvenation of the power sector.

Adeniran also said Adeosun is rather overwhelmed with the country’s political environment than knowing how to boost the country’s economy that is sliding without control.

Calling Fashola the minister of darkness, Adeniran, said at a press conference held in Lagos: “Topping the list as far as we are concerned in terms of abysmal performance that requires radical change in the present federal cabinet is the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.

“It is our view that the ministry has been the main one that has most misrepresented the campaign promises of the APC and the change Nigerians expected.

“All the actions of the ministry have compounded the sufferings of Nigerians in multi-folds; from lack of power supply to the illogical hike in electricity tariffs, from continually decaying infrastructure to death traps as roads with a housing sector that is ‘non-existent’.

“The minister of Power, Works and Housing keeps standing logic on its head by asking the already impoverished Nigerians to bear the brunt of his failure by asking Nigerians to pay for darkness and for services not rendered,” Adeniran said.

To him, Fashola has made history by achieving “the lowest, zero, megawatts for more than 18 hours in the history of power generation in Nigeria.”

He noted that Fashola has nothing to offer than damage the administration.

“We call on the president to ask him to honourably resign or he should be sacked!

“The minister is obviously overwhelmed as the task before him seem very daunting to him,” he added.

Concerning Adeosun, the anti-corruption crusader said Nigeria was currently on a dangerous precipice with the current economic repression which has become obvious in the sufferings and pains being experienced by the people.

“The skyrocketing increase in the cost of the very basic needs of life from food to water, fuel to health services, dwindling income to rapidly increasing unemployment and under-employment rate all stem from the progressively receding economy that stare us as a people in the face so boldly,” he said adding that the country’s recession had become rudderless and directionless.

He said the government had no excuse because the indicators were already there before the current administration took over.

“And because there seems to be no direction, because the economy seems to be at best on autopilot, and at worst under the spell of a powerful magician, the problems emanating from the cesspool of the past keep rearing their ugly monstrous heads becoming ever more resilient as they expand in scope and scale.

“Overwhelmed by the scale of the rot it inherited on assumption of power, and clearly fazed by the enormity of the task at heand, the present ‘change’ regime keeps reminding us at the slightest hint of any difficulty that the humongous maladministration and impunity of the recent past is the cause of our present problems.

“This worn-out lazy excuse has become so monotonous and routine that each time they speak now, they sound like broken records,” Adeniran lamented.

He reminded the Buhari administration to stop giving excuses which Nigerians already know and for which the people voted out the administration of the Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

“Isn’t that the reason we sent that most parasitic of governments parking from power and Aso Rock? Was that not why we embraced the amorphous and ill-defined change?

“As a country, it is time to move beyond excuses and expression of frustrations,” he said demanding that Adeosun be sacked for her innate incompetence because the current hardship requires the best hands.
