The Balogun Ndigbo of Ibadanland, Chief Alloy Obi, has criticised the traditional ruler of Igboukwu community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Martin Ezeh, for faulting the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, for making him the leader of Igbo community in the ancient city.

Obi in a statement issued yesterday in Ibadan, said Igwe Ezeh did not respect the resolution of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers, which proscribed the use of ‘Eze Ndigbo’ title in non-Igbo speaking states in the country.

He said: “It should be noted that the South East Council of Traditional Rulers, at its council meeting held at Umuahia on Wednesday February 20, 2008, resolved that the use of the title ‘Eze Ndi Igbo’ by Igbos residing in non-Igbo states should stop with immediate effect. The council preferred instead the use of such title as ‘Onye Ndu Igbo’ for Igbos, who are leaders of Igbo communities in such state.” He criticised Igwe Ezeh for supporting Dr. Alex Anozie against him because the latter is one of his subjects in Anambra State, while he (Obi) hails from Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, adding that the traditional ruler of his community, Igwe Nnamdi Oruche, would not dabble into an issue “he is not grounded in.” “Igwe Martin Ezeh should note that after the resolution of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers was circulated in February 2008, Dr. Alex Anozie wrote them in April accepting their resolution. When the South East Council of Traditional Rulers visited Ibadan on July 14, 2009, Dr. Anozie was the first to receive them and said the closing prayer at the end of a town hall meeting with the royal fathers,” he said. Obi stated further that Anozie avoided election into the position of ‘Onyendu’ conducted by the Igbo General Assembly “because he was, and is still unpopular among the Igbos.” “Dr. Alex Anozie should have briefed Igwe Martin Ezeh that the so called judgment of the Oyo State High Court he carries about was appealed and the first motion in that appeal has been ruled in favour of Chief A.O. Obi and N10, 000 cost awarded against him (Dr. Anozie),” he added. But when contacted, Anozie punctured the submission of Obi, stating that the issues of the leadership of Igbo community in Ibadan and Oyo State was decided in his favour and the case is still pending before an Appeal Court.

And a concentrated tribalist like the OP have to post it here to massage his Yoruba Hard-on?

There is this spiralling number of Sadist and tribalistic Nigerians who take delight in putting other groups down to make themselves feel good.

Lol... These people ehn... eeeh!

What did 'these people' do? Did he give himself that title? Was it not conferred on him by the Olubadan himself?

And if I'm not mistaking don't we have Balogun Gambari and Balogun Fulani representing the Hausa and Fulani elements respectively in Ilorin? If Igbo settlers have become a conspicuous part of Ibadan what is wrong in the Monarch appointing a representative for the people?

The use of a Yoruba title would even mean that they would have to operate within the Yoruba political system and be subordinate to the Olubadan, rather than when they were using Eze Ndigbo and thinking they were independent kings in their own right.
