CRY- MY BELOVED LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Abua/Odual in RiversState is in the news again for the wrong reasons. On the 22nd of June 2016, the gruesome murder of an APC chieftain, John Alali Morris. I called on the police to unravel the mystery of this murder. At the time of filing this report, the police has no clue as to what happened.
Barely two weeks from that bizarre incident, something untoward has again occurred. This time some unknown gunmen invaded a serene and peaceful community called Odau in Ward 13 of Abua/Odual LGA. Two young and vibrant APC members, whose photographs are displayed here, were shot dead . The reasons for their gruesome murder is unknown and may likely be unresolved. Our leaders are silent. The State government is indifferent. The Federal government is not bothered about what happens to us. God is so far away and may not hear us if we call on him. The sanctity of life is no longer sacrosanct. The falcon can longer hear the falconer. There is anarchy in the land. We are indeed in a state of anomie .
The two young men that were murdered are still lying stone dead in their pool of blood. The entire community is deserted. Who will bury these young men. Will their corpses be left for vultures to feed on? Oh God, were did we go wrong? How did we get here? And where do we go from here? Please is somebody listening? I am wearied by these senseless and unsavoury killings. Lord have mercy on us.
