The problem is not the cost.

The main issue for me is the president screaming local goods, but rocking ostentatious 'foreign' designers.

From Ferragamo to Gucci....

Na wa for Nigerians that don't read between the lines.

Well said and Thank YOU

There is nothing wrong with our president wearing shoe even more than that price . If you check your phone you use as an average Nigerian compare it with Ghana money you will know how much it is.
The president is being paid salary so he can afford it hundred times .
We should stop focusing on irrelevant things . I know is PDP hand work .
Our president should wear expensive thing , is ok.

In d inception of this administration,Buhari stated that he will cut d cost of governance, but his action today is not a reflection of his ealier assertion.Buhari should practice what he preaches so as to set a good precedent for Nigerians to copy.

The cost is not the 'biggie', I guess people just are 'prolly' amazed Baba's thrifty projection would not spend that much on a shoe. This shoe is non-issue though, it could be a gift (Perry Ercolino customized shoes start from $3,600, and he gifted the Obamas some pairs), he might have a thing for shoes, and $600 for shoes shouldn't usher in Armageddon.
Some not-that-rich-Nigerians have more expensive shoes . . . I have a few, and the most recent of them is about 12 years old, and they are all still fit to bounce, actually still stunners . . . that's what you get when you buy quality.

In another news

Buhari: my fellow Nigerians, I feel your pain. We cutting cost to save the future.

Zombies: sai baba, we stand with you.

Lol, standing bare foot (like GEJ with no shoes) with buhari who is wearing 650usd shoes. What happened to wear Nigeria and buy Nigeria? Oh I forgot the gucci shoes has bullet proof or maybe it's sound proofed or better still has walking and hearing aid. In order words, it's an orthopedic shoe.

Olamide is in the show biz. Buhari is a president who rode into power on the grounds of, humility, poverty and meekness... that's if you know the meaning of those. I guess buhari is now a Gucci model. Not to forget that there was an article of him refusing to wear a foreign shoe that was given to him as a gift. That's branding him as a contented man who will create environment that will develop indigenous products.

Nigerians are funny creatures. The same Zimbabwe president that hosted a lavish birthday worth millions of dollars in the midst of poverty ravishing his country was roundly condemn by nigerians. Now your president is wearing a shoe that cost nearly 300k in the midst of severe poverty in the land and you guys are defending this poo.

This was a President that was touted as a symbol of humility and modesty and also who has been advocating for made-in-Nigerian products. Also he claims that he was so poor that he has to borrow money to purchase his nomination forms. So how come such a change of lifestyle?
