pidgin is sweet mehn, i didn't knw much about it back then, buh when i went to live in warru for some months. My pidgin english was great. My people in ibadan had to caution me at some point about it |

Nothing wrong with pidgin; it is our own adaptation of the English Language. You connect with all classes of people in pidgin. Jamaicans have their peculiar brand; so also USA, Liberia, etc. it doesn't mean that you should not learn to speak Queen's English. Former President Babangida is one of the most fluent English speaking presidents we've ever had, but he is very much at home in pidgin. 1 Like |

Emeonyerichard: It's "pidgin" @ OP. To the question, I'd say that we tend to "connect" more with folks that way than through standard English. However, I would advise those students at school who are yet to perfect their English to desist from pidgin for now and focus on English. My 2 cents. 1 Like |

evegran: That's not true! I know a lot of people who have a great command of English, but will however default to pidgin when in their comfort zone. I enjoy a conversation in pidgin myself. My Google services -- Search especially is in pidgin. If you don't speak pidgin, you have zero rep! |

Not to sound like an oyibo.. Pidgin is quite hard for me. I can write it better than I speak. Infact when I speak pidgin my listeners tell me to speak english. Abeg who be like me for here ? |
