India’s Ghatak Stealth UCAV Moves Forward, Likely With Dassault

a metal full-scale model of the Ghatak is currently under fabrication by a private firm in Bengaluru in coordination with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). The exercise was ordered late last year by DRDO chief Dr S. Christopher.

The full-scale model will look to serve two preliminary purposes:
1.gauge detection range and
2.‘dry’ radar cross section, i.e., prior to the application of in-development advanced low-observability/RCS reduction features and/or special coatings.

DRDO and Dassault Aviation are in detailed discussions on the utilisation of part of the latter’s offset commitments from the Rafale deal to bring advanced technologies and software (some of it from the nEUROn programme) to the Ghatak project and help speed things up till the full-scale engineering & design (FSED) phase. Teams from Dassault and ADA have met twice, with a third engagement likely in May this year. A team from ADA has also been invited to France to get a closer look at Dassault’s work in the UCAV space centred around the nEUROn programme.

yes

by the way IMO reduction of threat/threat perception has stunted to some extent the south african defence industry.

south african arms industry specifically its exploits/innovation in land warfare system was part of our curriculum.
mention must be made of the Rhodesian's input.

Yup.

Not much is mentioned of the Rhodesians even in the development of HMDs.

The country on india,s western border had ordered chinese LY-80Es in 2015.

These MR-SAMs will be used for protecting the said countries static nuclear WMD storage/launch sites in central Punjab, northern Sindh & the Deosai Plains.

this explains the numerous projects for glide / winged PGMs , multiple PGMs dispensing cruise missiles and DEW based PGMs, subsonic cruise missile with terminal supersonic stage etc being initiated from the Indian side.

the brochure below is from Chinese OEM for LY-80E

ISRO had few weeks ago commissioned two major facilities a Hypersonic Wind Tunnel and a Shock Tunnel which are third largest in terms of size and simulation capability in the world.

These facilities were indigenously designed, developed and 'Made in India' with the support of Indian industries. A few critical technologies, which are under embargo, have been jointly developed by ISRO and industries for realization of these facilities.

The one meter Hypersonic Wind Tunnel and one meter Shock Tunnel have been established with a wide spectrum of simulation capabilities in terms of Mach number, Reynolds number and re-entry velocities. The new facility would help aerodynamic characterization of advanced space transportation systems.

ISRO is planning to use them for its various programs like Reusable Launch Vehicles, Two Stage to Orbit, Air Breathing propulsion systems and Human Space Flight Programme.

these facilities would also be used for military purposes like testing of hypersonic missiles , re-entry vehicles like MIRV, MaRV etc in the future.
