contract for four offshore high-speed patrol boats for the Vietnam Border Defence Force was confirmed recently.

the four vessels will be built by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in India. While no mention was made of the exact type of boat to be sold to Vietnam, L&T’s website lists a fast patrol vessel that is 46m long and has a beam of 8.5m.

Capable of a maximum speed of 33kt, L&T states the platform is ‘optimised for EEZ and coastal patrol, fisheries protection and monitoring, control and surveillance, anti-smuggling, search and rescue, anti-piracy, providing a communication link and escorting coastal convoys’.

L&T also notes that the design of this in-house fast patrol vessel can be customised to specific client requirements.

photo of barak8/LRSAM testfired in India yesterday.

i have come across many people dismiss Barak-8's capability in a certain defense forum, citing it's low speed of Mach 2 as a disadvantage compared to contemporary SAMs in it's class like the existing MBDA Aster family, which have speeds of about Mach 4.

What these people don't realize is that LRSAM is a dual-pulse missile. The first pulse (boost motor) gives the missile lift and time to adjust course & find it's target. The 2nd pulse kicks in later and drives the missiles to velocities of between Mach 5 to Mach 7. About five-to-seven kilometers short of the target, a seeker on the interceptor’s nose is switched on, locking it onto the target. To accelerate the interceptor, which was by now merely coasting, the dual-pulse motor is fired for a second time. This increased the interceptor’s velocity up to Mach 5-7, enabling it to maneuver sharply in tandem with the target’s evasive zigzags.

Another aspect is the missile's g-stress tolerance in lateral acceleration that is upto 80g, which is incredible for a long-range radar-guided SAM of this size & weight. Comparable Aster has (50G + 12G) 12G for lateral acceleration . AB Missiles like THAAD are believed to max out at 60g. The small SPYDER missiles have a maximum of 76g.

Also, recent tests have shown that LRSAM has surpassed it's anticipated range parameters, clocking in upto 90km instead of previously estimated 70km. This entails that the Barak-8ER version (with an additional booster section like Aster-30) could have ranges in the region of ~150km.

China autogyro drone

Autogyro (or Gyroplane )

An autogyro is characterized by a free-spinning rotor that turns because of the passage of air through the rotor from below. The vertical (downward) component of the total aerodynamic reaction of the rotor gives lift for the vehicle, and sustains the autogyro in the air. A separate propeller provides forward thrust, and can be placed in a tractor configuration with the engine and propeller at the front of the fuselage (e.g., Cierva), or pusher configuration with the engine and propeller at the rear of the fuselage (e.g., Bensen).
Whereas a helicopter works by forcing the rotor blades through the air, drawing air from above, the autogyro rotor blade generates lift in the same way as a glider's wing by changing the angle of the air as the air moves upwards and backwards relative to the rotor blade. The free-spinning blades turn by autorotation; the rotor blades are angled so that they not only give lift, but the angle of the blades causes the lift to accelerate the blades' rotation rate, until the rotor turns at a stable speed with the drag and thrust forces in balance.

Autogyro is a never crash aircraft.even if losing power in air,it can make a free fall gliding landing, becaue of very light weight.

Or it can be hand made a none drone version

what missle?

it is not a missile , it is a mine field clearing rocket, when the rocket is fired it takes along with a line charge (imagine a rope full of explosives) over the the target minefield which is then detonated to set off any mines within the blast radius.

in 2006 bought 28 sukhoi 30 MKA for 1.5 billion $ (french take 10% of contract price) but their is reports talk about 2.5 billions $ for this contract
in 2011 bought 16 additional su30 mka for 900 million $
in 2015 get 14 Su-30MKA for about 800 million $

but algeria is known to customize and take the best for it's command , so the price depend on what variant you want and what modification on it

malysia for exemple get 18 su-30 MKM in 2003 for 900 million $
venezuela get 12 Sukhoi Su-30 MK2 for only 480 million $

so can u tell me what is the rate of operational availability of the Su-30MKA during peacetime?
also given the large number of Su-30MKA , Algeria must have its own MRO facilities for maintenance etc of the Su-30MKA.

i'm not an expert and this kind of info is hard to find , what i know that the principal base of the Su-30 is in-Beida Airbase (the biggest in algeria)

on google map we can see always 5 or 6 Sukhoi 3O MKA on the tarmac parking with 2 others on the piste ready for flight (pic 1) the others are in the Hardened Aircraft Shelters . this base is very active for training and survey operation in est borders

the air base on google map : https://www.google.dz/maps/@35.8802725,7.2956505,622m/data=!3m1!1e3
there is also one squadron in "Bechar air base" and another in "tindouf" near maroccocan sahwraoui west borders , there is also some units deployed in the extreme south at "tamenrasset air base" near mali to secure borders ! we can see on this video taked by french media in mali near borders two algerian su-30 in malian air space

There's a bit of marketing there. The multiple telescopes Rheinmetall will have an out of 30kw. Though cause of the number of telescopes.

i am inclined to believe u on the marketing thing.

but i am positive regarding my believe that someday in the future we will be seeing laser based CRAM. we had Israelis down here and they were very positive about it. looked like it was going to be their next venture.

some info on HEL MD
HEL MD is a giant high-energy laser outfitted atop a 500-horsepower Oshkosh 8×8 tactical vehicle. In its most recent testing, Boeing focused its 10-kilowatt laser on more than 150 airborne bogeys, which included both mortars and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Inducing a high level of heat on contact, the laser system burns the target until it either blows up – in the case of the mortars – or crashes.

The laser now deployed is 10kw (kilowatts), up coming models will be in the 50-60kw range. The HEL MD tracks and engages its targets through a state-of-the-art infrared targeting system.

The brute sources power from a 60kW diesel generator, which spools energy to a bank of lithium ion batteries, giving the HEL MD a feasibly endless supply of drone-zapping laser power … so long as the operators pack a few diesel jerrycans grin
