are u kidding me? Did u say fairness? For God's sake when will all these ethnic bias end in nigeria? My dear ipob that thinks he wants to be dominated, i dont care if all buhari's appointees are from daura village... So long as buhari trusts them and they are effective @ their jobs. All this ethnic sentiments of ''we want our ppl there'' is what has been nigeria's problem.. Everybody wants a piece of the pie. And osinbajo is right. Those avengers abi justice league or whatever cartoon names they bear are fighting for their pockets. Thats the bitter truth. Go to niger delta and u will see on average.. Their men dont work.. They will just be collecting stipends from govt every month, go to d bar and get drunk. When d money stops flowing, they will pick up weapons and say they are fighting for their lands. Biko what lands?
This your reasoning is very shallow.

Now see, there is a reason why federal character was enshrined in the Nigerian constitution young man.

Due to our diversity, it was therefore necessary to come up with a framework like the aforementioned so as to eliminate the chances of any ethnic group or geopolitical zone raising dust about marginalization.

You cannot exclude every other region from the most important offices (security) and expect everyone to keep mum. It cannot happen.

Talking about effective, do you honestly believe that Buhari can vouch for their effectiveness and suitability for those posts? Do you mean to imply that all those offices all occupied by people from his region (remember the security offices are the most essential in every govt), there was no persons found from other regions who could play the role and very effectively too?

My friend, Buhari must make conscientious efforts to imbibe the principle of federal character in his appointments otherwise, the feelings of marginalization in other regions with the ensuing unrests are just in the teething stages.

As for the ND crisis it is simply because Nigeria as a country has never had a visionary leader as president.

If we did, the ND would be competing with the likes of Dubai and other hubs in the world where oil money is made.

Stop being one directional in your thinking.

Wrong. Re-orientation before restructuring.

Even if the nation Is restructured, it's the same set of corrupt politicians that will be in charge.

They'll simply run from Abuja to their various regions to continue the looting.

In the Niger Delta where their leaders have amassed weapons already, the fight will be something else.

But Fashola as governor also objected to political restructuring of Nigeria. He said what was required was creating more local government areas.

Truth is that a lot of southwest politicians who joined northern parties for APC are either most apolitical or look forward to Sokoto Caliphate for directions.

As most of the southwest politicians in APC look forward to the Sokoto Caliphate for directions, they must take their eyes away from the secessionist east and Niger delta.

These southwesterners want to sink by looking forward to a Sokoto Caliphate group that has little value on Western education, let them stop dragging others who place more value on Western education to sink with them.

....is there something I don't understand or what. Please, what else should they be fighting for apart from their pockets. Is a better life now a sin in the Niger-delta but okay in the rest of Nigeria. These people are so dense. I just hope light hits them one of these days. Its like saying the Brits who voted for Brexit were doing so for their own pockets or Nigel Farage or Boris Johnson or the Scots voting to remain in the Euro. Everyone of these are doing so because of the potential economics involved to them as individuals and their communities.

If the Niger-Delta wants its resources for itself, is it different from the Brits who want their jobs and social security for themselves. Osibanjo has clearly allied with the establishment, the owners of Nigeria and has placed himself on the wrong side of history, the ignominious side. There are no peoples whose desire for freedom can be trampled upon forever. Take it from me. He is a pastor and should know better, that liberty is God given, it can be delayed but can never be denied. And he will answer in history as one of the deviants. He should watch out. The only way to keep Nigeria together is by mutual agreement and I repeat again, Nigeria owes it a duty to its citizens to make the country attractive to stay in just as a family must be attractive to make relationships stand. A husband that forces his wife to remain in a union she finds intolerable stands accused of cruelty and abuse. Even if he has no material thing to offer he should at least show love for that union to remain but everyone of them abuse the people of the Delta in words and deeds. Cruel, abusive fellows indeed.

Aguiyi Ironsi didn't kill true federalism.
He left the regions intact.

In Aguiyi Ironsi's Unitary government system, more than 50% of what regions got in their regions were retained by the region.

Hausa/Fulani and their agents in military dictatorship restructured Nigeria, created too many undue large number of states al government areas in the north to suck up most of crude oil revenues to the north, then gradually strenghtened unitary government system to this extent where Abuja literally controls the air every Nigerian breathes.

You don't seem to understand the meaning of diversity. Nor do you have any inclination why the constitution allows for a Federal character commission...If the proponents where like you, there won't be FCC. That' one...Now why is that that no southerner has been the FCT minister? Is FCT meant to be managed by the north alone...are other regions not Nigeria? Forget that the money used to build the capital comes mainly from the south..

And where were you when this happens? Your major problem is hypocrisy which involves shutting up whenever a regime favours you, but resorting to shouting 'marginalization' 'Norther agenda' etc when it is opposite. Please read the citation below from Ihejirika and tell me the meaning of diversity in these political appointments?

"For 6 years our own occupied the offices of Deputy Senate President, Deputy Speaker, SGF, Minister of Finance /Coordinating Minister of the Nigerian Economy, Ministers of Health, Aviation, Labour, Petroleum (by Marriage), Chief of Army Staff etc yet nobody complained that the Igbos got too much of the Federal Power rations neither did your highly placed brethren improve your lot in terms of development!

Other ethnic groups watched carefully and played their politics towards national relevance while we the Igbos got carried away and played politics of the pocket where semi-illiterate money bags charted the cause for us!

Those who have access to Aso Rock and got fat contracts sustained the lies to hoodwink both Aso Rock Gods and the Igbos. In blind response devoid of any logical reasonings the Igbos put all their fragile eggs in one basket that had lost form and shape to protect them. As the results of those fatal errors set in the same money miss roads are now fanning the ambers of secession as their next meal ticket bargaining chip while the teaming youth they lure with money and lies risk losing everything including their lives for nothing in the end.

Compare the Igbo TAN money bags and/or failed politicians to the likes of Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Femi Otedola who are hardly seen or heard playing partisan talk less of ethno-religious politics! Imagine Dangote gathering the leaders of Northerners in Lagos and imposing political party or candidate in Lagos State politics on them. Such is near impossible! The Igbos have allowed derogatory pocket politics to puncture their natural nobility as a people!

With men of honour and class like Ebitu Ukaiwe, Emeka Anyaoku, Ndubisi Kanu, Ben Nwabueze and others the Igbos should have no business listening to the likes of Ifeanyi Uba (Capital Oil), Chris Uba etc any time they talk politics!"

you are being unfair with the truth. Mid Western region first advocated for a region of theirs which to a large extent started d dent on out federal structure. In 1963 they got their region. The same agitation continued by the same people, the Ijaws and other south south as well as some part of middlebelt started crying of marginalisation, this led to further annihilation of our federal structure through d introduction of 12states by Gowon. No denying the fact dat the primary motive was to make Biafra weaker but the truth remains that issues of marginalisation by the smaller groups were in vogue. A major dent on our federal structure was the Western regional crises btwn 1963-65 and even 66.

If one is to analyse the problem Nigeria more rationally we must make away with tribal sentiments. I'm Igbo and I understand the historiography of Nigeria. In 1953 or so, the northerners gave conditions to leave Nigeria, we the south refused, now today we the south wants break-away all because of the presence of the black gold, is that not injustice? Mind you that it was because of the peculiar challenges of that time that warranted concentrating more resources in the Central govt. States(regions) bcam too strong to demand secession at any time. It was in finding solutions to these challenges that necessitated the stronger center against states.

Going back to restructure on the basis of regionalism is more or less recycling without learning from history. Restructuring if only it lies our solution is good, but on what basis? Niger Delta enjoys 13% derivative, Ministry of Niger Delta and much more. What have their leaders done with this mammoth resources?

Anambra today is a case study of success story despite the minimal federal allocation compared to most Niger Delta states. What have these Niger Delta governors been doing with all they've gotten? Still wondering.
