The Shanghai Shenhua striker, and current Chinese Super League top scorer, picked up the injury in the second half of his side's 2-1 win over bitter rivals Shanghai SIPG on Sunday Demba Ba suffered a horrific leg break during Shanghai Shenhua's 2-1 win over rivals Shanghai SPIG in the Chinese Super League on Sunday. The former West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea striker collapsed to the ground in agony after slipping over in a challenge with Shanghai SIPG's Sun Xiang in the second half. Xiang was trying to recover the ball and accidently caught the left leg of Ba, 31, who suffered the ugly injury while his foot was planted on the turf. After the game head coach Gregorio Manzano described the tackle as "horrendous", adding: "It could end Ba’s professional career. I would rather lose the game than lose Ba. "Ba is too good to have this happen to him."
