Fulani herdsmen are no doubt gradually taking over the country and unfortunately nothing very serious is happening from the government and instead of Buhari’s apologist and die hard supporter to race their voice against this injustice, they have rather preferred to keep quiet.
This was how the dreaded Boko Haram started. The failure of the Jonathan administration to act fast and nib the insurgent in the bud made them to grow stronger by the day until they became uncontrollable. The truth was that he was not well advised on the matter. The matter was politicized. His loyalist that should know better wrongly advised against any serious action while his opponents undermine his effort when he eventually acted so that he will fail. Even the present administration did not believe that Boko Haram was tough until they started combating them otherwise the premature target of December 2015 to end the insurgent would not have been given.
Thank God that the effect of Boko Haram at least has reduced seriously and government has shown more seriousness at fighting the insurgent unlike before. However, just as Boko Haram started without serious commitment from the government, The Fulani Herdsmen are beginning to take over without serious commitment again from the government of the day.
It is high time we stopped playing politics with our affairs in this country. Buhari needs to act decisively on the herdsmen. The time to act is now.
