Nickelodeon cartoon introduced the first animated married gay couple to its channel.

The popular animated series ‘The Loud House’ has just become Nickelodeon’s first cartoon to feature a gay married couple – and they did it in the most amazing way possible.

The series is about an 11-year-old named Lincoln Loud who is the only boy living in a house with 10 sisters.
In a recent episode, Lincoln’s best friend Clyde McBride comes to the Loud household for a sleepover, and it is revealed that Clyde has two gay dads.

The scene begins with Lincoln and Clyde counting down to the sleepover on walkie-talkies, and in a subtle hint at the momentous TV occasion, Lincoln says, “Time to make history” before opening the door to let his friend in.


But this is where any kind of attention to the parent’s sexuality ends.

The joke of the scene is actually how overprotective Clyde’s dads are – piling a white noise machine, humidifier, dehumidifier, inhaler, and allergy medication into Lincoln’s arms before handing over emergency numbers for the restaurant, movie theater, and gas station (in case they stop to pee).
It is a scene that has been created with numerous heterosexual parents in the past, and the only difference can be found in Lincoln greeting “Mr McBride and Mr McBride” instead of Mr and Mrs McBride.
