Breaking: Imam Elected Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly Member representing Lokoja 1 constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly,
Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam, has been elected Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly.

The position of the Speaker became vacant following the voluntary resignation of former Speaker Momoh Jimoh Lawal.

Imam was nominated by the Majority Leader,
Honourable Matthew Kolawole while Hon. Sheik
Abdullahi Bello seconded the nomination.
All 22 members present in the chamber voted in support of the election of Imam as the new Speaker.

Imam has since been sworn in as the new Speaker and currently presiding over House sitting.
