Am at the roofing stage of my 4 bedroom bungalow recently being constructed in sapele road Benin and I just got this quote for the Engineer supervising the project as am out of the country.

2,2 x4 nos 210@900=189,000.
3,2 x 3 no's 180@800=144,000.
4,2 x2 no's 180@500=90,000
5, nail 4 n 3inches bags 4@7500=30,000
6,loading n discharging 10,000.
7, transport 30,000
8 cost Roofing n Ceiling #250,000
Total amt# 784,600

I think it's ridiculous,any advice I have the plan,both roof plan and floor plan please help professionals in the house before I get robbed

this people can make someone crazy just try and get like 3 different quotations and compare, am at the roofing stage 2 mine is 3bedroom. Make sure u have chilled water beside u when perusing each quotation

Firstly, please kindly ask the Project Engineer for the type of wood. There are many types of wood and I learnt a lot from the different threads on roofing when I was about to roof my structure too,also a 4 bedroom.
Secondly,for my project, the ffg were the price/cost as at March 2016:
3x4 @ N750 each
2x4 @ N430 each
2x3 @ N330 each
2x2 @ N220 each
1x12@ N1400 each

A bag of 4 inches nail @N4500
A bag of 3 inches nail @ N4500

I can't get the name of the wood used in my book now, but among the very good ones. My supplier is based in Lagos and she supplied all the woods to my site outside Lag. Prices have gone up, but this should give you an idea.

Thirdly, be very careful as to the roofing sheets and ceiling. The cost of transportation is on the high side, I stand to be corrected.

Lastly, go thru different threads on similar Projects and ask the OP questions.
