A first class traditional ruler in south west Nigeria, the Ooni of ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja the second has admonished President John Mahama of Ghana to relax policies that encourage the physical and mental boundaries set among African countries. Oba Ogunwusi made this call during a visit to President Mahama with the senior special assistant to the President of Nigeria on foreign affairs and diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

It was reported that since his coronation last December, the Ooni of Ife has traversed several countries to promote Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

The traditional rulers with senior special assistant to the president of Nigeria on foreign affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri Erewa recently visited Ghana to meet with Nigerians living in Ghana. Their first port of call was the flag staff house, office of the president of Ghana..

Commenting on the bond between the two countries, and the need to do more, Oba Ogunwusi, described Nigeria and Ghana as countries with similarities in culture and tradition.

For his part, President Mahama described himself as very lucky to be the first African president outside Nigeria to host the foremost African monarch who is globally known as King of peace and unity. The senior special assistant to the president of Nigeria on foreign affairs and diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa who was part of the delegation praised President Mahama and advocated for a deeper bond between Nigeria and Ghana.

Later at a meeting with Nigerians living in Ghana, Dabiri-Erewa noted President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolve to provide credible leadership for Nigeria to take its place in the comity of nations.

This is what traditional rulers should be doing for their country.

The Sultan of Sokoto
Emir of Kano
Oba of Benin
Oba of Lagos
King of Bonny
Etc etc

Politicians alone shouldn't be the ones doing everything.

These traditional rulers are been paid monthly by States and FG. A lot have mansions in Abuja and Lagos so they should assist the FG immensely in the image making of the country
