Amina Yahaya, the new president of Students Union Government (SUG) of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto (UDUS).
Ms. Yahaya is, perhaps, the second female student in Northern Nigeria to occupy such office.
Over 30 years ago, a fiery activist and politician, Najatu Mohammed, broke the first record to become the SUG president of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Although Amina, a 400L student of English, took over the office after the impeachment of the elected SUG president of UDUS, Najatu contested the post and won in the early 80s, breaking the record of the first female student to occupy the office in Africa.
NB:
A number of commenters have argued that Najatu Muhammad was neither elected to the post nor the first female SUG president in ABU, just as Amina Yahaya was not the second after Najatu.

This is a false story. She was never declared the executive President after the impeachment, rather charged to be in acting capacity.
It should also be noted that nothing like SUG on UDUS campus, it is SU without G.
