He said the school is suffering from poor funding by the two visitors (osun and Oyo) which led to inability to pay the school workers salary.

The whole protest was covered by Nta ogbomoso, parrot FM and Lautech olofofo, the day1 protest was put to halt around 3:30pm leaving the school gate locked.

DETAILS OF TODAY's PEACEFUL PROTEST (DAY 2) AND MEETING WITH THE COMMITTEE OF DEANS.

I will like first and foremost commend all comrades (students) that participated one way or the other to the success of today's peaceful movement. Despite our differences, shortcomings, mistakes, arguments, misunderstandings et al LAUTECH students collectively conveyed our clear and stern message to the state governments and management. Before I proceed to details in full, I'll once again state our noble demands

- Explanation from the school management on this "indefinite break"

- Resolution from the school management, striking staff unions, OYO & OSUN governments for the resumption of the school and commencement of examinations.

- Proper funding of LAUTECH from the OYO & OSUN state governments.

- Long lasting solutions to this menace to prevent future reoccurrence.

WHAT WENT DOWN AT THE PROTEST?

We converged as usual by 7:00am at the UNDER G school gate (ALUMNI PARK), locked ALL gates preventing vehicular and pedestrian entry and exit the school premises. In no time, we set out en masse via the UNDER G gate towards the express road obstructing/limiting movement of vehicles.

Afterwards, towards midday the committee of deans addressed protesting students stating their resolve and commitment to make sure the issues at hand are addressed promptly so that resumption and exam dates be given as soon as possible.

The road blockage was then dismantled for vehicular movements at about 1:15PM, few minutes after students were addressed by some comrades and then the SP of Police. I will like to chip in that all security and relevant external bodies complied and supported our movements today - as there was adequate security and cooperation.

MEETING WITH THE COMMITTEE OF DEANS

Fast forward to about 2:30PM., the meeting with the deans commenced. In attendance were all deans on campus and about 16 Student Delegates.

The discussion was lengthy. However, I will like to be as succinct as possible in my report.

- The committee of deans praised our resolve to dialogue with them, applauded the students' peaceful conduct and also our intellectual charisma portrayed throughout the protests and via the mass media.

- the deans agreed that the real reason for the indefinite break wasn't as a result of the post election violence but as a result of improper funding of the university by the OYO & OSUN state governments - which led to failure of ASUU to release exam papers for the harmattan examinations.

- the indefinite break was declared so that students won't be held to ransom (kept in school without exams) when there are impending problems in school - they expressed deep regret that the break was never meant to take this long nor degenerate to this extent.

- they totally agree with the students that LAUTECH is not "properly funded" by the OYO & OSUN state governments.

- the VC (school management) met with both OYO & OSUN state governments state governments yesterday and today respectively due to our protests.

- there will be an emergency meeting of the school management tomorrow to provide solutions to the ongoing crises.

- on or before Friday we will hear from the school management on our resumption/exams dates.

- both OYO & OSUN governments are now showing commitment to solving the current situations and find lasting solutions to these crises.

RESOLUTIONS

- The committee of deans have agreed to liaise with the school management, the governments, staff unions and student community to solve the crises - providing us cogent information as to our resumption and examination dates by Friday.

- A 72-Hour deadline was given to the committee of deans by the students to provide us with this info about resumption/exam dates.

- The opening of all school gates pending the 72-Hour deadline/ultimatum given to them - THIS FRIDAY.

- Resolve by the committee of deans to find a lasting solution to the incessant strikes.

- Students will be given adequate time and conducive environment prior to commencement of exams.

- Suspension of protests and demonstrations prior the 72-Hour deadline given to the committee of deans, school management.

- If after FRIDAY (72-Hour Deadline), there's no good, substantial and favorable update from the school management as to our resumption and commencement of exams - we will proceed/resume with the indefinite mass protests, and other actions students agree on by MONDAY, next week.

Before I submit tentatively, I would like to use this medium to once again commend all comrades who came out today to make sure our plights/grievances are well heard and adequately addressed by the relevant authorities.

Apologies to anyone who might have been offended and or hurt in anyway - let our differences unite us even better and keep our focus on the collective goal.

More so, Kudos to every other students contributing/supporting this collective struggle in one way or the other. I strongly believe our relentless efforts will not be in vain.

GOD BLESS US ALL!
