Samsung announced the coming of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 yesterday, August 2, 2016 as is the usual practise with the Galaxy Note series, which is announced around August of each year and released into the market a few weeks after.

The last edition of the Galaxy Note series is the Galaxy Note 5, but it seems Samsung is skipping the Note 6 and jumping to Note 7 so that the numbering of the Note series would tally with that of the Galaxy “S” series. Galaxy S7 was released earlier this year and now that the Galaxy Note 7 is coming out, the numbers can now be the same and be increasing together annually.

While the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has a number of properties in common with its predecessors like the Note 5 and Note 4, which all have a display of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 518ppi, the Galaxy Note 7 also brings new features to the game that makes it stand out. The major ones being

- An Iris scanner that can be used to scan your iris to unlock your phone or some other locked folders on the phone
- Dual curved-edge screen, which makes the phone look like a bigger version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but with more features of course
- A re-energized, more sensitive and intuitive S-pen that allows you take notes even when your screen is off
- A bigger battery of 3500mAh
- A RAM size of 4GB
