Factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kano state, Hussaini Mairiga, has joined the list of Nigerians disappointed in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

To him, Buhari is ‘a total failure’.

Mariga, despite being in the same party with Buhari, said to journalists in Kano state on Monday, “From the looks of things, President Buhari has betrayed the confidence of the Nigerian masses who voted for him massively into power.”

Saying he was not trying to exaggerate, Mariga noted regrettably, that members of many families in the country now go to bed without at least one square meal, while many had abandoned their homes and families as they can no longer provide the basic needs of life for their loved ones.

The outspoken Kano politician said that it has become so worrisome that after one year of the Buhari administration in power, there was nothing to show while poverty in the country had reached a level that has never been witnessed in the history of Nigeria before.

Lamenting that a bag of rice now sold for N16, 000, in some parts of the country, he described as abysmal the continuous rising prices of other essential commodities since Buhari came into power.

According to him, the most painful part of it is that all these are happening at a time the ordinary man did not have money to make a living.

The factional APC chairman pointed that, those around the president, including his ministers, had refused to tell him the truth and advise him on the reality on ground.

He reminded Buhari of his campaign promises, stating that he did not like the way the masses were allowed to wallow in destitution and penury. He said Nigerians were in the worst condition that needed urgent attention.

The APC chairman advised the President to stop deceiving Nigerians that the nation had no money whereas on monthly basis, the federal and state governments continued to enjoy a boost in their allocations.

Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka, an Enugu state Catholic priest, only recently noted in a videoed sermon, “My job is to tell leaders the truth, the landlords are crying, the tenants are lamenting, sellers are crying, buyers are lamenting and there is hunger on the streets.

“I can’t keep quiet when things are going wrong. I am telling the President to look around him and know those who are advising him rightly and those who are telling him that there is no trouble. The President should know that there is trouble and if things continue like this, in the next election, nobody will vote for him.”

Also, northern political chieftain, Junaid Mohammed, in describing Buhari’s government said, “ I will put it this way, we have exchanged one thoroughly corrupt government for one that pretends to be honest and is doing an honest job while in reality, it is business as usual.”
