Ahead of the controversial visit to Kano by Sen. Rabi’u Kwankwaso on Tuesday, the Presidency on Monday summoned Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje and the Senator to avert breakdown of law and order in Kano State.

The governor, accompanied by two serving senators and two members of the House of Representatives from the state, met with the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari at the Presidential Villa.

Ganduje, however, declined to speak to State House correspondents after the closed door meeting.

PoliticsNGR gathered that Sen. Kwankwaso is also expected to meet with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential villa, today, over the matter.

It will be recalled that Kano State Police Command had advised Kwankwaso against embarking on the visit, due to the tension it had generated which may lead to breakdown of law and order.

The State Police Commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, had on Jan. 27, advised Kwankwaso to shelve the visit as security report had indicated that the controversial visit might lead to political unrest.

Yusuf also warned that the law would be allowed to take its full course in the event that the controversial visit resulted into violent clash in the state.

However, Kwankwaso, who spoke through his spokesperson, Binta Sipikin, vowed to go ahead with the visit in spite of the police advice

She said: “we are coming to visit friends, families and other relatives that for a long time, we have not seen. We have coordinated this visit with seven camera drones and other apparatus that would make it a hitch free home coming.’’

If he supports Ganduje, he should speak up so Kwankwaso can find his level and if he's neutral, he should let them both know. It's this kind of inaction from Buhari that called for the action by Dr OBJ(Phd) of the department of Letter writing

Good move Though I'm not sure if anything good can come from Kyari.

These men are just irreconcilable but Kwankwaso remains the boss.

It is even a shame that Buhari as the national leader of the party and Oyegun the national chairman watched by the side until the crisis degenerated to this level. There should be an internal mechanism for resolving issues within the party. Telling an incumbent senator that he cannot visit his constituency because of party disagreement is shameful.

Buhari is trying to protect his vote for 2019. If it stays like this over 1.4m votes will be splitting into two. Politician and their interest.

Kwankwaso says he is holding a rally on the... day of January.
Ganduje decided to hold his own rally on exactly the same day.
Not just the same day but along the route of Kwankwaso's procession. How mad is that?

Kano's vote would be divided, no more Kano block vote for the dullard.
Kwankwaso joining a different party is a foregone conclusion.

Ganduje should understand that Kwankwaso literally made him whoever and whatever he is today. Those praise singers urging him against his godfather and principal never contributed when Kwankwaso fought hard to build kwakwansiya movement and install him as his successor. Ganduje should respect his master so that his days as a politician will be long.

I wanted to say I am surprised but internal power tussle are the norm in Nigeria regardless of which party or president is in power.

Since 1999, only Yaradua's tenure was without state level power tussle. I could be mistaken though.

When it comes to doing thing that will save our economy and lives of Nigerian Buhari will proudly claim to be a man who takes his time but as this has to to do with his re election bid in Kano he has quickly called meeting first thing on monday

It's clear that all is not well between buhari and kwankwaso. Why will he meet with the vice president? If u look at it very well u will notice that him and oshomole have remained close mouthed. Since they noticed that buhari is nothing but a coward. N has nothing to offer Nigerians.

Why is just a visit to someone's home state such a big deal? Everybody can travel anywhere they want in Nigeria. I can't understand the logic behind these arguments. I guess these ones have some special scores to settle.

Kwankwaso is going to coming out tops. He has way more influence and reach than Ganduje.

So Kwankwaso is now persona-non-grata in his own state?
How is he then expected to campaign for his own re-election if the police cannot guarantee him freedom of movement and assembly in Kano?
Systematically,Kwankwaso is being schemed out of his senatorial re-election campaign,talkless of a shot at the presidency.
All it now takes for a governor to scheme out a popular politician is to create crisis and inform the police and other security agencies of likely break down of law and order if his opponent were to step foot in his own state!

This is indeed a very early intervention from the party leader.
