OP, stop defending your oga's failings. GEJ didn't wreak the economy, he left it stable. One thing he had going for him was his economic team built on technocrats. Buhari foolishly built his on mediocrity and empty headed politicians.

Of course you will laugh because you are parochial. Even GEJ cannot come out to say: 'don't blame me '. He knows the evidence that will come out will be damming and he and his wife for starters will find it difficult to stay in Nigeria talk less of being relevant politically.

#Hehehehehe

Keep defending a man that his scurrying about trying to prevent his guilt from being exposed to the maximum.

If you could use the better part of your thinking faculty, you would realize that every former leader looks back at things they could have done differently.
I have no doubts that GEJ would look back at things he could have done differently.

It is only a person whose personality borders on imbecility, a psychopath, that would get a chance at leadership twice in his lifetime, and take it on with the same failed mindset, the same failed attitude, the same failed expired medicines, even after 30yrs idleness, without learning a single thing.

As the months roll by and this land becomes more desolate, I look forward to reading about more excuses and more blames from you and the rest of the army of paid e-zombies.

Any evidence or link to where NOI lamented government's failure to finance the 2015 Budget? Because from the last count, her major worry was cutting wastages from government spendings and channeling them into things like capital expenditures that can generate more revenue. She had running battles with labour in things like salary increments and ghost workers, with oil marketers on subsidy payment and importantly with state government on the sharing of the monies accruing from the excess crude account.
Am still waiting for that link?

The message of this thread can be summarized thus:

1. GEJ got us into the economic mess we are in and is still contributing to it with his affiliation to criminals in the NigerDelta.

2. President Buhari and his government are fixing the rot, it is an ongoing process that is yielding results already. These results will take time to spread to the generality of Nigerians.

3. Wailers should shut up and eat humble pie while true progressives implement the reforms needed for Nigeria's greatness.

You can quote me anywhere.

We agree GEJ and co wrecked the economy and that's why they were voted out. Buhari has been in power for over a year now, and no reference should be made to the past adminstration, instead they should "man up" and do what they were voted to do.

APC has an opportunity to make a name for themselves but they are making the same mistakes PDP made.

Enough of this GEJ did this or didn't do what, we should be looking forward not backwards.

The 2015 budget was not financed by borrowing, 800 billion out of 4.5 trillion is less than 20 percent of the budget, so stop exaggerating .

On the other hand, Buhari is borrowing over 2 trillion Naira to find the 2016 budget.

You forgot to mention.....they padded it up to 6 trillions....

The public discourse is dominated by the poor state of the economy with many opponents of the present government of President Muhammadu Buhari seemingly relishing what they perceive as his failure to run the economy which they claim is the source of our current recession.

However, a short look at our immediate past shows that former President Goodluck Jonathan actually presided over running the Nigerian economy aground during his tenure which largely favourable global economic conditions.

Read this report from last year :

So, the 2015 budget which was done by GEJ 's administration was financed from borrowing, what happened to all the revenues raised in the previous 3-4 years under him?

Do people think we will just stroll out of GEJ's mess like that? The man did not only fail economically but he also empowered militants that are now sabotaging the economy, he also failed to decisively tackle Boko Haram until few months before leaving.

It is only an hypocrite that will blame the present government for our problems, it is doing a lot to stabilize a bad situation.

When logical arguments fail you, attack the person you oppose. Tactic of the poor debater.

I wonder if there is a religion that condones looting the treasury and driving a country to recession in times of plenty. Maybe you and GEJ practice such a religion. #Shior

All these years our economy has been sustained on the junk food of corruption.

We have kwashiorkor but because we look chubby we think we are healthy.

Those two bedrooms in Abuja going for N700 million. Those make up artists charging 500k and pre-wedding photo shoots for 700k. Aso ebi for 90k.

Buying Rolexes and Ferraris.

Range Rover Sport all over Lagos like keke napep.

It is all fake.

It's all a mirage.

We've all been living off the spoils of corruption.

That's why the country is so hard now. No money circulating.

Because no money to steal and rent flats and shops for girlfriends.

For civil servants to pay bogus tithes of N500k.

For senators to spray dollars at their daughters' weddings.

For Lagos BIG Boys to spend N2m every Friday night at nightclubs and AY Live & other Comedy Shows.

It's time to face reality.

The party is over. Now we may see the real Nigeria and Nigerians.

Now that money will go into our roads and bridges and hospitals.

It will benefit those who don't have a rich corrupt uncle with connections in oil and gas.

Those who can't travel to Dubai to celebrate birthdays.

Those who don't know what Coldstone ice cream tastes like.

Hopefully the Real Estate markets will surely crash.

The theives with 15 houses in Abuja FCT with uncountable fleet of luxury automobile will definitely be forced to sell them fast for cash.

I would prefer if EFCC seized and auctioned them, though.

All those in the service industry will have to revaluate their pricing.

You can't charge 500k to paint faces anymore; free money don finish.

Welcome to the REAL world.

Why borrow at all when you are coming from a period of affluence?

I will tell you why: the overwhelming majority of the revenues raised under GEJ was stolen. A conservative estimate would be N1 trillion.

Stop masturbating on what terminology you failed to understand.

She used the term borrowed because the past budget has ran its course before the new 2015 budget was signed on 10th May, 2015.

It is illegal and unconstitutional to start expending funds without the budget.

If I may ask, why was May, 2015 Salary/Wages not borrowed? Why April and not May? Simple answer, the budget was signed on 10th May, 2015 making the expenditures and release of budgeted funds legal.

Simple understanding of internal bureaucracy in government helps.

This is the weakest attempt by buharideens to distract attention from their ignorant yet arrogant and utterly ineffectual statue of a principal in aso rock.

Buhari is showing why many of us cringed and prayed he wouldnt win. It took him 7 months to appoint ministers and when he did he chose politicians over technocrats (except for Kachikwu) and they are all failing in their assignments from power supply to agriculture to finance. It took the ineffectual buhari 15 months to appoint an economic adviser and he waited till we were in a recession.

OP abeg spare us the lame excuses. The hunger in town is enough to deal with. Dont pour salt in an open wound. Buhari is incompetent

Correction Sir.
Every past leader bears responsibility for Nigeria's disgraceful underdevelopement, and that includes, and especially, Mohammadu Buhari.

If you're objective enough, you would agree that Buhari's treason of 1984 led Nigeria to an avoidable trajectory of political, economic and social destruction and desolation.

It is grossly delusional to expect the primary cause of Nigeria's problems, a self- serving demagogue, to be the Messiah that magically solves Nigeria's problems.
