And the main artery to Calabar is in a very bad state. Misplaced priorities. How about constructing the road and have it tolled?

DaveAnte14:
Nigeria is a dirty, corrupt third world shiithole inhabited by monkeys.
On the other thread they're talking about Calabar seaport. What happened to The Ibaka s
eaport ? Examine the map below .Does it make sense to bypass Oron and all those little islands into the interior shallow river creek to go build seaport? Now you are talking about Calabar beach resort .Is that a beach or shoreline? What Happened to the Ibeno beach which is a real sandy beach right at the ocean?
They are also talking about Onitsha seaport and Aba seaport.Everyone wants a seaport. Does that make any sense ? You think every city must have a seaport? Maybe next, you'll be talking about dredging a river path to build Abuja Seaport.
That is why Nigeria will always be a third world shiithole and black people will remain at the bottom of the barrel because you refuse to do the right thing . Foolish people !

Yes, everyone deserves a seaport as it's much better than airports. There's nothing wrong with having lots of seaports. China, the US, Indonesia, Brazil, India etc do have a plethora of seaports. Ibaka was chosen because Akwa Ibom State has the longest coastline in Nigeria and it's naturally deep, so need for dredging unlike Calabar.

What you should advocate is rapid industrialization in Nigeria as the ports should be used for production and export activities as opposed to continuous importation. However, industrialization cannot be achieved without constant power supply.

That man called Ben Ayade is a big disgrace to he talk big and yet nothing happens. We are suffering in this state. Superhighway has stories already, Seaport still at the corner , CalasVegas he mentioned it. SolarCity was also mentioned all this project he said cost millions of dollars. We are just suffering and smiling still putting the blame on the President. I suggest the EFCC should visit the state just to see how much damage he has done to finance allocated to the state.

Can't you learn from Lagos, why must you center every development project in calabar, what of ogoja. Nothing is in ogoja, nothing. It's a good move but spread development across the state.

I hope you know that whatever may be the case, that A state capital will be given the highest priority

Storry! Some1 should tell this dude to maintain the existing tourist sites such as tinapa, marina resort, etc. Its just funny how these politicians discover new means of extortion public funds in the name of insignificant projects instead of improving on the facilities that their predecessors had built. Then you hear some1 say ''Ayade is working'', if I hear!!!

It is.. The guy has found devious means of stealing state resources through bogus contracts.. .. A sea port exist in your state that needs just dredging, you go and start another one paying billions in consultancy fees, you have an existing highway, insteading of reconstruction, you start an entirely new so called super highway... All the joint like Mariana, Tinapa are down and the short man is starting another

I think this issue of building a state owned seaport is as a result of bitter controversy in the senate over the inability to appropriate money for the dredging of the calabar river to accommodate bigger vessels.
This matter has been dividing the senate whenever this matter comes up for discussion right from Obasanjos era.
The calabar seaport is a federal government facility and has been lying idle for long as a result of bureaucratic bottlenecks and corruption.
I think it will be good to establish the seaport for the development of the state.

State can't own seaports.. They can only construct and get the federal government to take over it.
If they can't resolve the issue of dredging the existing port it means the facility will goto waste.

No. State Capital does not have to be more developed than other parts of the state .that is a flawed reasoning . That is because Nigeria is a corrupt shiithole . Albany is the capital of New york. there are other cities more developed than Albany - New York city , Rochester,Buffalo.

The entire landmass which comprises akwa cross may later become a mega city and be renamed Atlantic city.in any case, below is the plan. the area which comprises the present day Oron will be main commercial district with seaport and skyscrapers. present day Ibeno and Eket area will the entertainment and recreational district with zoo, amusement park,Casinos and beach resort, etc. Uyo may be the administrative district of the city with government buildings . Calabar will be just another suburb of the city.
Anything short of this is backward.

I'm with you here, unfortunately, ethnicity and the political will wouldn't allow such to happen. However, I stand on my earlier comment - Onitsha's port is built as an inland port while Aba is a dry port (to service the Onne port).

Ayade jux dey waste moni on already developed Calabar.... Please see to other local governments. For instance, Yala Lga no get a single ATM. I repeat ATM... can you imagine, so if you need money for any emergency.... You have to transport yourself to Ogoja LG. Please developed cross river generally.... And not the central development. I really miss my crossriver peeps. They are so welcoming towards strangers. I love them to the bone.... God bless cross river.
