Sealing a seventh gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games on Sunday night, Usain Bolt confessed afterwards that his love for Real Madrid originates with superstar winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jamaican sprinter and global athletics icon, Usain Bolt, has declared that in Spain, he supports Real Madrid. The 29-year-old has always maintained that he's a Red Devils fan in football but when asked in Rio if who he supported between Real Madrid and Barcelona, he declared it was the former. Bolt has even admitted that he has a 'dream' to play for Manchester United, although later accepted that he wasn't too keen to play under Dutchman and former manager, Louis van Gaal, saying, "I supported Manchester United for years, I would still love to play for them, but if Louis Van Gaal is the coach, not so much."While in Rio, however, when asked which team he pledges his alliance to in Spain, Bolt was unequivocal in his response. "Real Madrid (is my team), of course," the Jamaican told Cadena COPE. "I like them because of Cristiano Ronaldo," he added.

Bolt and Cristiano Ronaldo have been friends for a while now. The speedster even visited the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to watch Real Madrid play a live game. But while Real Madrid are yet to start their domestic campaign, Bolt is having another successful Olympics. Having already won the 100m sprint with a time 9.80 seconds, Bolt said it wouldn't have been possible without the support he gets from his fans. "It is very important to me," he added, "I feel very proud and very happy."It is an honour and I would like to thank everyone for their support, and with your help I can continue to do well."Bolt is yet to participate in the 200m and 4x100m relay events at the Rio Olympics, and he's hoping to secure another triple. Winning both of his remaining events would give him nine gold medals in total – an incredible feat for a track athlete whose career spans four Olympic events.
