Still lucky that its a small chicken change. In developed countries, they wouldnt only seize your company or ask you to pay, you would actually be charged to court and imprisoned for tax evasion.

Quick to mention Obi s company. What about the names of the owners in Lagos and Kano? Nairaland will resurrect the moment its rearranged and management taken away from kids.
When I say kids, I mean people with limited reasoning.

Is there no way to negotiate with these companies to pay the said tax? What of the jobs of people working in these companies?
When will intelligent people start leading vital agencies in that country?
You simply did not know Tax evasion is a criminal offence?

All from tax paid.. Now we can start asking the govt what they are doing with the tax collected.

I have some questions
1. Is it lawful for an ex-governor to have so many companies?
2. Were the companies incorporated when he was still a governor?
3. how certain are we that the funds meant for the people of Anambra were not used in setting up these companies?
As usual nobody asks, nobody bothers and things remain the same.
The answers to all your questions are not far fetched. Go read up about Peter Obi, how and when he made his fortune, what he did for Anambra during his tenure and where / what he left for Anambra state after his stewardship. Then come back and edit your write up.

The are not winding up the business now, this is not rocket science. Let them pay the outstanding taxes and the company will be reopened. As simple as that. Except the company is unwilling to pay its debt.

One major problem with Nigerians is we always like to compare our country with foreign countries, we desire to enjoy they do over ther, but we don't want to learn from them. When Messi was being prosecuted for this same offence did anybody talk about negotiation? Tax evasion is a crime and that is what it is.

Not enough reason to evade tax though, especially when you are a public figure. Tomorrow if he wants to contest for a public position and someone calls for his disqualification due to tax evasion, he would start appealing to the gullibility and ignorance of the populace claiming that he's being persecuted by his political opponents (some may even add that he's persecuted because of his tribe).

To answer your questions
1.It is lawful for an ex- governor or any other citizen to own as many companies as he or she wants.(Tinubu as a case study)
2.The company was not incorporated when he was governor. The company has been in existence since way back.(1990's).
3.Funds meant for Anambra people was not used to set up the company. It might interest you to know that the said company was originally owned by his father and the father still manages the head office at Modebe avenue Onitsha.
Nobody asked, nobody bothered because their was no need for that and that's why things have remained the same.
Assuming you did your research well before coming online to spill this trash, you would have saved me the stress of replying an ethnic bigot like you. Stop hating Baba Alabi or whatever you call yourself.

And you think he will care to do that?
He's already filled with hate so leave him to further display his ignorance.

The paid online warriors have come again. Tell your masters that God's judgement will strike all of them (including you). The Abuja shopping mall built by the thief is also a fallacy right? The same Next company that was used to launder money is also implicated here. Next time try to defend your masters with concrete evidence instead of spewing unverifiable trash.

Peter Obi the hero! Peter Obi the best governor! Peter Obi the reprehensible thief!! what about his shopping mall in Abuja? I have gotten no replies since I posted. Eventually when the reply comes, it will be about blaming enemies and 'haters'.
I will write it again, God's judgement will visit the perpetrators of corruption and their supporters (the same people that quoted me)
