There are so many things besetting Nigeria, however, the most pressing are developments which tend to threaten the united existence of the nation. Within the course of the passing week, these 15 quotes below tell of the pressure within Nigeria, as politics, militancy and economic hardship threatens to tear the nation apart. 1. “Restructure Nigeria to avoid war” The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ebonyi state warning President Muhammadu Buhari to avoid a situation where the country is plunged into war . 2. “We do share in the failure, in quite significant proportion. In an interview with Vanguard, the septuagenarian described the poor state of the region as self- inflicted . 3. “We made it clear that the Nigeria military is using sleepers’ agents to track or checkmate the activities and operation of the Niger Delta Avengers. But the more they try, the more they run into crisis with their employed sleeper agents.” The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) in the morning of Sunday, August 14 challenged the commander of Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie and commanding officer, Nigeria Navy Service (NNS) Delta, Commodore Joseph Dzunye, telling both men to come to the creeks of the Niger Delta , instead of operating from the cities and apprehend “sleeper” agents, who they call as Avengers members to in order to get favour from their top officers. 4. “I’ve never heard of Christian terrorists but we have heard of so many Christians or followers of other religions who committed heinous crimes against humanity.” READ ALSO: Top 5 controversial quotes by Father Mbaka The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III saying that though Christians were not believed to be terrorists but they commit wicked crimes against humanity. According to Tinubu, he has the right to back whoever he likes to emerge as candidate of the APC in the Ondo state governorship election 6. “Trying the discredited divide and rule tactics of using the media to claim Nnamdi Kanu denied NDA in order to engineer acrimony and hatred between him and NDA has failed woefully.” The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) alleging that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari wants to kill Nnamdi Kanu . 7. “All of us just have to support the President and I advise him to know that he is no more a military man. I am not afraid to say that.” Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos has advised President Muhammadu Buhari against approaching governance as a military man. According to Oba Akiolu, Buhari should realize that he is no longer a military man and be civil in his approach . 8. “The Chibok girls must be rescued, they must have their lives, the future that Boko Haram tries to truncate.” One of the parents of the abducted Chibok girls berating President Muhammadu Buhari for the handling of the rescue of the abducted girls. He described Buhari’s administration as more clueless than Goodluck Jonathan’s own . 9. “The country is in the hands of wrong managers who do not know what to do and out of nepotism, not ready to be assisted by those who know.” Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of promoting the worst kind of nepotism in Nigeria’s history . 10. “We hereby remind MEND that we are into Biafra restoration in order to free the enslaved people of Biafra and by extension other parts of Nigeria that are under the hegemony of Hausa-Fulani domination.” READ ALSO: These two men visited President Buhari in his office today (Photos) The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) replying the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Niger Delta (MEND) insisting that unlike MEND, it is not ready to fall to the federal government. 11. “I witnessed what the police did early today in Port Harcourt, it is most unfortunate. It has shown that we are indeed in a perilous time in the country.” Ekiti state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) wants the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dead because the APC does not want a virile opposition to challenge its obnoxious policies and inability to tackle the problems confronting the country. 12. “The challenges in the party are working for the party’s good and would make it come out stronger and more united.” Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) describing the situation surrounding the party as the beauty of democracy. 13. “We are not in any form of dialogue agreement with anybody. It’s like the Government wants to dialogue with themselves.” 14. “I agree that it is painful to see certain persons appointed. I know three current serving ministers who told me that Buhari will never be the President of this country.” Olisaemeka Akamukale has said that three minister serving in President Buhari’s cabinet are all saboteurs . 15. “Our prayer for Buhari and the Northern hypocrite (Northern Governors) is that oil should be found in commercial quantity in the North, so they can let the Niger Delta go.” The militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) vowing to declare the Niger Delta region an independent entity on October 1, 2016. In a statement released on the website of the Avengers on Thursday, August 18, Mudoch Agbinibo, spokesman of the Avengers, said that the Niger Delta no longer wants to be part of Nigeria.
