More revelations are still coming out on the arms deal probe – The 2015 elections funds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were allegedly sourced from the then Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) – A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae has tendered a weighty evidence In order to clear his name in the ongoing corruption-related charges against him, Chief Olu Falae has submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) an email correspondence between him and a former chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih. In the said email, Chief Anenih mentioned that he was acting on the instruction of former President Goodluck Jonathan to disburse the funds. A source at the EFCC told The Punch that in the email dated March 2015, Anenih informed Falae that N100m had been approved by Jonathan and would be handed over to him (Falae). It was paid into the account of Marreco Limited, a company where Falae is chairman. The fund was credited into the company’s United Bank for Africa Plc account, 1000627022, on March 25, 2015. Attempts to reach Mr Ikechukwu Eze, spokesman for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Anenih’s spokesman, Mr Ojeifo Sufuyan to get their reaction on the issue were not successful. His words: “I never had any dealings whatsoever with the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki. No relationship at all! “What I know was that Chief Tony Anenih, chairman Board of Trustee of the PDP approached me before the last election (presidential election of Saturday, March 28, 2015) to seek the cooperation of my party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) with his own party in re-electing the former president (Dr Goodluck Jonathan) in what they could call an Inter-Party Cooperation Agreement. And I gave him 6 conditions before we could accede to that request.” Chief Falae told members of the SPD National Executive Council in Abuja that he was ashamed to be linked with the $2.1billion arms scandal. He told the party stalwarts that he would open up on the contentious N100 million that he collected from Chief Tony Anenih, and “silence the blackmailers.” Around the same period, Falae was reportedly booed by the congregation at his local church -St. David’s Cathedral, Ijomu street in Akure during a Sunday service, after his name was mentioned as one of the beneficiaries of the deal.
