FIRST IMO TUNNEL AND PROPAGANDA SURROUNDING IT

The first Imo Tunnel was the first of such construction in the State. The construction of the tunnel at the Concorde junction by Portharcourt was borne out of good intentions by the Govt of the day in Imo to improve on and ease traffic congestion around that area and add to aesthetics in comformity with Urban Renewal of the State in general. But,because of the bad intentions, and bitterness borne in mind by detractors and enemies of the State, the Tunnel constructed out of noble idea has suddenly become a tool for propaganda. Yes,a Tool For Propaganda in the hands of microscopic few mainly Youthswho do not have the interest of Imo our dear State at heart.

Few days ago, some few Imo Youths operating under the aegis of Frontline Social Media Team just woke up at middle of the day and discovered that water percolates under the tunnel under construction. They went as far as uploading pictures of the flooded tunnel just to hoodwink the unsuspecting public into believing the project was substandard. Before taking the individuals serious here,a reasonable and sane person would want to know why it was just two days ago percolation of such magnitude was noticed by the so called Group.

The tunnel was not just opened for use two or three days ago. It's on record that the tunnel has been in use for months now and no such flooding was noticed, as motorists ply under the tunnel. Which goes a long way to prove that something was responsible for flooding of the tunnel some days ago. Yes,the Nigerian Metrological Agency(NIMET) had predicted a forthnight ago about flooding of some places in the Country occasioned by heavy rains. If the members of this Group would be sincere enough to make the truth their own, they would have been privy to flood reports in some parts of Kaduna,Lagos,Benin,Kogi States and our own Imo respectively. If no such flooding had occurred within the tunnel before now and such occurred just three days ago around the tunnel, then the predictions by NIMET came to pass. The photos below shows the members of the Group at The Tunnel Site taking pictures. Even,at the point of their taking these pictures, there was no sign of flooding in the tunnel. This reveals the intentions behind the activities of this group.

This Group had also brought Enugu Tunnel and Imo Tunnel into comparison. It is imperative to know at this juncture that,The design concepts of the two tunnels are the same. But,the construction principles cum details are not same. In the case of Enugu tunnel, the ground level/topography was not altered. The tunnel was constructed of which after, laterite was piled up above it to create the impression a tunnel was bore through the rocks. With such design concept no noticeable flooding takes place. But,in the case of Imo, the Portharcourt road level was maintained which necessitated excavations underground to create the tunnel passing under the existing Portharcourt Road. With such construction, there tends to be noticeable flooding by runoffs generated therein. Is not as if there are no drainage facilities in the tunnel to address flooding. There is. The tunnel is under Test Run. Even,at this point the tunnel is still under construction as there is work in progress of which the members of this Group are fully aware.

Now that defaults are being noticed on the well thought out tunnel which was one of the reasons why the Imo Tunnel is undergoing Test Run, one would expect any sane, reasonable, sound-minded individual(s) to mount a constructive criticism and if possible profer solutions than destructive criticism. There is nothing wrong in suggesting to a Govt what can be done to address some issues from opposition. But,in a situation where the opposition members in Imo are bereft of such ideas that tends to solve problems, those are the kind of what u see here. Always looking for issues to cash in on,most atimes none issues.

Now,that such default has been noticed, corrective measures are put in place. The Responsive Govt of Owelle Rochas Okorocha is on top of the matter towards addressing the issues noticed to forestall future occurrence. No Shaking.

Imo State wu nke anyi, whether one likes it or not and It Must Be Better In Our Time.

You have no shame, my brother. Under construction, you say? Who opened it up for public use? Why did you not post a picture of this wonderful achievement of your hero? The upper part was opened up for use and you sycophants did not allow us to hear on the social media. It was all praise galore. A few days after, it became a swamp. You guys quickly closed it and left the down part open for use. Now the wind has blown to show the anus of the fowl- both up and down are death traps. YOU should be ashamed of supporting such a government of deceit.

Only those who live outside Imo state will believe these lies. Any one who wants to know the true state of Imo should just visit the state. Choose any part, including Shell camp which houses the government house and you cannot but cry for Imo state. Listen to or believe these e-liars at your peril.

Many parts of Nigeria are eyesores without exemption. I think the extreme hatred shown against Okorocha is not in your own interest. If you know anywhere without eyesores in Southeast or Nigeria mention it.

Confused scammer cheesy , you even labelled the 10th picture you posted, with the back of a luxurious bus on the road as Onitsha - Owerri road & that place is Awo-Omama, b/4 Njaba bridge.

The one labelled Okigwe is the Okigwe - Umuahia axis of Enugu-PH express way.

I posted the pictures and you are right about the Awo Omamma photo. I took it years back en route Onitsha. The OP just screen grabbed and did the labeling.

However he is not wrong about Okorocha's giant strides as I still have hundreds of pictures.
