The police authorities in Lagos on Friday dispatched mobile police officers from different stations to the Adekunle police station to curb the spread of violence.

About 500 youth on Friday afternoon barricaded the entrance to the Adekunle police station, Panti, Yaba, Lagos protesting the killing of one Rotimi Philip.

According to an eye witness, Mr. Philip and two other men were sitting on a fence at Olonade Street , in Yaba on Thursday night when they sighted some police officers on routine patrol. The young men took to their heels and hid inside a Toyota Corolla car and the officers opened fired on the car killing one of its occupants, Rotimi Philips. The other two men, identified as Friday and Pawo were immediately rushed to the General Hospital in the Lagos Island where they were placed in the intensive care unit.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Adekunle Police station admitted the shooting and said the police will donate the blood that is required to save the lives of the men on the intensive care unit.
