The death toll from a truck bomb attack in Somali capital Mogadishu has risen to 22, including security force members, medical sources said on Tuesday.

A driver of local ambulance service said several people who were seriously wounded in the attack have succumbed to their injures at the hospitals in Mogadishu.

Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack which happened outside SYL hotel Mogadishu on Tuesday morning, according to pro-militants media outlets.

A bomber drove his explosives-laden truck into the main gates of SYL hotel near Somali palace in Mogadishu, killing at least 22 people, including soldiers.
