Wow! Lagos is doing well in terms of IGR. Over $1bn in a year is not too bad. Meanwhile, the man you quoted is a stark illiterate who can't read between the lines. You can see the Kenyans are even ignoring his posts due to his poor grasp of language. Obviously he hates Nigeria due to Jonathan's loss of the 2015 election. But the silly boy still has Nigerian papers. So he believes he is trapped and hates his life. Even a blind man can sense his pain. Do you know that all the 47 counties in Kenya together in nine months generated IGR lower than Lagos did in three months. They made $247million in 3 quarters and Lagos made $290m in one quarter!

https://www.nation.co.ke/business/Counties--revenue-collection-dips-by-Sh1-2bn/996-4117070-15q6eio/index.html
The 47 counties collected a total of Sh24.7 billion
between July 2016 and March this year compared
to Sh25.9 billion realised over a similar period a
year earlier, data by the Treasury shows.

Lmao.. the mighty Nairobi county generated 10 billion Kenyan shillings.. that's less than 100 million USD while the slum city Lagos generated 333 billion naira(about $920 million) as at 2017 grin . now for three months alone,IGR stands at over $200milliom grin

Even Kano state generated more as at 2017... grin

For Kenyan : http://opera.pulselive.co.ke/bi/finance/counties-with-the-highest-and-lowest-revenue-collection-id7575928.html

For Nigeria: http://saharareporters.com/2018/03/24/nbs-data-reveals-how-much-nigerian-states-generated-internally-2017

grin let's wait for the cooked figures experts..

BBC focuses 80% of their Africa news on just two countries: Nigeria and South Africa...
The codiene story was to expose the scourge of drug addiction not just in Nigeria alone but all over Africa and indeed the world.. You can make fun of it all you want, but I followed the story well.. Majority of people who commented on the story agreed that it's a worldwide problem... You can use it to make fun of Nigeria if u wish... issa free world...

Your post reeks of more Kenyan stupidity... $290m was generated in the first quarter of 2018 I.e January, February and March...
You said Lagos isn't a producing city.. lmao... what kind of production exactly? e specific pls. if it's agriculture, I will agree with that.. but mention the "products" you ate referring to..

290 million us dollars is poor for a population of over 20 million. What I'm talking about is not really agriculture I am talking about finished products manufacturing goods which are 80% to 100% made in nigeria example Cement a lot of the ingredients are imported but the lime nigeria. A lot of the drinks the ingredients are important into the country. So when you have a high importation you cannot have high revenue because a huge amount of the tax is used to import. A good example is ghana they have 5 times more exporting processing zones . Lagos only surviving on nigerians in the diaspora sanding money back home that is how a high number of people in lagos survive.

one reason why they call Africa shithole. States like Rivers can boast of this, not forgetting Enugu centenary city and other cities. Not to even mention the IBB world class Golf courser,Abuja.Nairobi is really backward.
You are boasting to Lagos about infrastructure, when Lagos has already made waves long ago in infrastructure before your only hope city

I wouldn't want to compare Nairobi with Lagos again but rather

The Economic city of the North-kano
The Garden city - Port Harcourt
The city of Aesthetics and architecture - Abuja
The beautiful and serene city of Nigeria - Uyo
The Industrialized city of the East -: Awka

This Cities can compete with your Nairobi

No one knows those cities you mentioned except Abuja

Whatever they do does not matter, even the people who live in those cities are virtually non existent as far as the rest of the civilised world is concerned. What is Awka? It sounds like a sea fairy

I had to read your posy three times to understand what you wrote.. Mr Europe, which part of Europe do u stay?? This ur grammar dy do me strong thing ooo..
grin

Let's analyse your points
1) You claim Lagos doesn't produce finished goods... How come Lagos is the most industrialized state in Nigeria?..
2) You said Nigeria import most of it's "ingredients" for manufacturing.. that's funny, cus there's hardly any country in the world that doesn't import... but unlike Kenya that u are trying to asslick, Nigeria doesn't have a negative trade balance... go figure that out..
3) Your last point makes no sense at all.. in fact it's dumb.. How does Lagos survive on money sent from abroad? does that mean everybody in Lagos has somebody sending them money from abroad? or are u saying the people from abroad are donating money to Lagos?? just a few days ago u said Lagos was surviving on Oil money.. now it's diaspora money...

And lastly, on the issue of Lagos not producing enough, it's good for the country... Right now, many manufacturing firms are building their companies in nearby States like Ogun and Oyo but Lagos remains their no.1 target market..... Lagos has a functioning CBD,hundreds of markets and industrial estates...

Its only we nigerians which fool our selves

Best country ranking
Kenya 57
Nigeria 76
https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/overall-full-list

African cities offering the best quality of life.
Kenya nairobi 21 in africa 184 in the world.
Nigeria lagos 33 in africa 212 in the world.
https://www.howwemadeitinafrica.com/african-cities-offer-best-quality-life/53603/

Which country is better to live in obviously kenya wins. That is why nigerians run to other african countries to sit at the side of the road. Nigeria and lagos is just a dream land where the people deceive themselves 24/7 but in reality they are suffer.

Lagos rising..

Lagos needs to plan its urban areas better. Like along the lagoon(as shown in the pic) there should be a minimum height to buildings. We shouldn't have a one or two story building in such a pristine location.

I would like to see more mid-rise buildings along this area.

Nigeria’s economic recovery happens only on paper – Experts

FINANCIAL WATCH: Nigeria’s economic recovery happens only on paper – Experts: After contracting for five consecutive quarters, the Nigerian economy in the third quarter of 2017 was declared recession free, data on the country’s gross domestic product growth by the National Bureau of Statistics showed that the economy grew at 0.55 per cent in the second quarter of 2017.

This was followed by the federal government’s executive orders to drive the key sectors of the economy, the consensus out there is that a lot of the changes that have happened are only on papers but not far-reaching.

Speaking with a cross-section of experts, they expressed mixed feelings over the numerous policy pronouncement of the federal government in the last 12 months, especially as it concerns ease of doing business.

In the view of Chief Cyprian Arinze, a haulage contractor, the Executive Order if anything amount to putting the horse before the cart. “If the government takes care of the roads, we can achieve over 95% Ease of Doing Business. Without this, we will just be going round and round the circles.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Chief Remi Ogungbemi, Chairman, Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO) argued matter-of-factly that the Executive Order is far from a reality as basic infrastructure aimed at turning things around at the ports are still missing.

To achieve the much hyped executive orders mandate, he would rather a deliberate measure to build truck terminals. “I want to use this avenue to appeal to the concerned authorities to see what they can do because things are in terribly bad shape right now.”

In his assertion, Austin Okere, the Founder and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Ausso Leadership Academy, an ideas incubation company express worry that the Economic Recovery Growth Plan laudable as it is already suffering from inertia associated with government policies.

“I think the problem we have is that we run election economics. Great men think about the next generation but politicians think about the next election. And insofar as the economy is about amassing enough money to manoeuvre or win the elections by all means, then another four years, we go back to the same square, then if a new government comes in, it starts exposing saying oh, look at the money that was amassed and they say it was for election and say, ok. The point is insofar as we continue to run election economics; we’ll be where we are. In an election year, a lot of time and resources are wasted. So we only have two productive years and if you’re not lucky, the new government comes and rollback everything that has been achieved, it becomes a problem.”

Expectedly, the government on its part seems to be convinced that it has performed commendably well thus far. David Uzosike, the Reform Lead, Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council/Enabling Business Environment Secretariat with the mandate to lead, coordinate, research and identify the constraints to ease of doing business in Nigeria, in an interview said a lot have been achieved.

“If you’ve been following our communication, especially looking at our website, you’ll see all the reforms and impacts we have achieved from the Ease of Doing Business perspective. And when you talk about the Executive Orders specifically, we can say there has also been some traction in that area.”

While acknowledging that infrastructure gaps exists, Uzosike said, a lot has also been done to make documentation process at the port seamless.

“Truth be told, a lot has changed. For instance, where you used to have 14 documents for inspection, it’s now eight and where you used to have all the agencies inside the ports, with each of them coming one after the other to inspect containers; it has changed. Now all the agents operate with one single window. There are no more multiple points of inspection. So these are things that are really in practice.”

Now I can see that you are a stack illiterate , 290 million us dollar in first quarter is to poor .1.5 billion us dollar per year for lagos in revenue generation that is a disgrace for a city like lagos. that show lagos not produce but it is a consuming city with very few industries and production chains for exports. Lagos gdp is over 100 billion us dollar they can only race 1.5 billion us dollars per year revenue. My country nigeria is a joke if other africans see this they will laugh maybe the gdp is super inflated because 1.5% tax does not make sense
