i don't think u know anything pertaining economics... i sense u're just searching d web and bringing up incoherent postulations.

MPR is the interest rate at which central bank lend to commercial banks and not to the average man on the street while LDR is meant for the average man on the street. LDR loan is gotten from deposit in banks and not from central bank.

MPR is dependent on status of economy and used to check inflation. If an economy is vibrant and has low inflation rate, its MPR will be lower than a country that has a turbulent economy, which is d mother of inflation.

But LDR is deliberately meant for small biz owner to borrow at low interest rate.

Nobody asked you for all of that! Just tell us the interest rates flouted by banks to ordinary Nigerians. Stop the shenanigans.

Not true. Konza has been allocated funding every year - the office complex for Konza secretariat is complete - the horitzontal infrastructure for Phase 1 is ongoing (awarded to some Italian company). The Korean Institute of Science & Technology deal has been signed and just awaiting financing agreement.

This project started like 2014 or 2016 and all you can say is we have one building no land reclamation or dispute no funding gproblens but only one building and I know you are lying I did a bit of research and according to at least five different news companies have said konza city has not taken off or konza city struggles to attract private investment I even went onto the official channel for konza on Twitter they had basically no news whatsoever other than this guy visited this place and that's all no progress on this building or render for this building or proposed etc.

There is no real progress or milestone happening in Konza city and frankly you are yourself if you think massive progress is happening there if it was really moving forward we would have seen at least 4 building by now.

He is embarrased that Nigerian banks are charging Nigerians as much as 30% while Kenya interest rate are capped at max 13% and deposit rate are as high as 7%.

There is progress but not as fast as we want. I think it was started earlier - with Land acquisition - 5,000 acres - and being 60kms from Nairobi - there is a lot of work that need doing. Admittedly it as slow as your Eko City with has 2 or 3 towers completed in nearly 20 yrs.

But it isn't as slow because Eko Atlantic, the sand reclamation was completed in 2015 befirec the recession you cannot build anything reasonable during a recession no private company would even approach a country like that

But now that we have recovered many companies are investing and coming to Eko Atlantic to build headquarters and buildings like Lagos sky tower, LA reve tower, c towers, audacity skyline and iconic towers so those plots have all been bought and all they are doing is soil testing for their buildings unlike konza where most plots are not bought up no sign of cranes, or excavators etc on site and no infrastructures like street lights, water pumps and over amenities etc

Can't you understand that refined Swahili which was spoken? But let me xplain what the clip says..

In 2015,the government carried out demolition exercise in Dar, most unplanned settlements were demolished, the folks went to court, the court halted demolition by a court order. The court said it wasn't properly done. The affected families are having nowhere to go since the government didn't provide alternative. The government says it still wait for more court decisions and clarification, they say, they can't interfere the judiciary.

The affected families are pleading to a president for help.

So,that isn't a normal slum life like kibera. Those are people who wait for gov to give them plots for resettlement.

Lol, so there are normal slums and abnormal slums. I would rather anything normal any day. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Where's the progress? All I see are sourceless renders, none with any actual contruction going on. Also building height is not the "height" of progress.

so the buildings you have been posting here are the actual image. grin you were posting renders image and that triggered me to do the same. Now let's go slow. Konza is a technopolis campus - don't expect to see huge skyscrappers there - the plots will not be sold - they will be given free - right now - we are fixing horizontal infrastructure - roads, electricity, sewage , fiber - and then investors will rush in to take advantage of free land - maybe tax holiday - and it will be full before you're out of recession. Oil doesn't seem to be getting out of recession soon.

First off were out of recession second off konza is not a campus it is not a university it is a city that makes no sense if the government is going to spend a billion dollar on a university does it

I watched a progress video released in July I went to the comment section they said this project is horrible how they extorted the money and how it was meant to be completed by 2020 but all they have is one building.

Plus even if it is a free trade zone you are not going to give away your land for free are you because your making no profit and debenefitting yourself if you just gave away land for free

You say there will be noo Skyscrapers all the renders and masterplans involve skyscrapers and highrise buildings.

You're barely out of recession - just growing at 1-2% depending on the oil mood. Anyway back to Konza. Konza is a technology city - it will be a huge campus for techies - it will host tech companies, research institutions, innovation hubs and supporting services (hotels, hospitals, schools, and residence). I think Egypt in Africa have such a tech city.

One of key signature we have secure for Konza is from famed Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. I think we need 200M dollars to see if off ground but everything is nearly ready. Then couple of local and international universities will be given land to establish research and innovation hubs. Then technology companies - will also be given free land that has power, fiber and name it. A few hospitals, hotels and residential companies will also get plots.

Konza masterplan is already ready - designed by some of best architect in world. Phase 1 of the project is under constructions. Then we will have phase 2 & 3.

Here is KASIT - Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology - to be build & run by Korean KASIT.

I will ask again how are you making profit from the development if there is no profit than there is no point in it is there phase 1 was supposed to be completed in 2014 but has it no and when you search it there is no news that Cambridge or MIT or Stanford etc are planning on investing in the project until I see physical evidence of these fires being laid down, street lights and companies planning on investing than I cannot see the point, feasibility or the progress of konza city

What we all need is a mindlift! A mindspace reset that will enable us to see beyond what we THINK WE KNOW and finally see things clearly. Talking to a mindlifted person is like a blind man finally seeing the dawn unblinkered by lack of vision or like a horse that can only go forward as it receives no visual cues from the environment.
LET ME JUST COPY PASTE THIS IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Nigeria has a smaller national budget than Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and South Africa. All these countries have fewer citizens, yet significantly more money to spend on them. While Nigeria’s 2019 budget amounts to $29 billion, South Africa, with a population almost 4 times smaller, will spend $130 billion. Egypt has a $90 billion budget with 100 million people. Elsewhere, countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Vietnam have larger budgets than Nigeria. No one considers these nations “rich”. Yet, among Nigerians, there persists a stubborn myth that Nigeria is a wealthy country. Who planted this idea and why does it survive?

It started with Nigeria’s 1950s pro-independence leaders who needed to mobilize popular opinion against colonialism to push the British out. So, they regularly emphasized Nigeria possessed abundant economic resources being carted away by the British. “Help us drive them out and we will use these vast resources to transform your lives”, was their essential message.

Many Nigerians believed these often exaggerated claims of abundant wealth awaiting distribution and duly mobilized for independence. By 1960, then Governor-General Nnamdi Azikiwe was constructing national pride on the idea that thanks to her resources and population size, Nigeria was already an “African power.” And this was before crude-oil exports really took off in the mid-1960s. By the 1970s, General Yakubu Gowon was telling Nigerians their country’s problem was not money, but “how to spend it”.

Whatever Gowon’s intentions, his words were interpreted by many Nigerians to mean theirs was a rich country, period. Over 20 years later, during my secondary school days, we would often recall Gowon’s famous statement. Anytime someone brought it up, we would all laugh with some delight. It made us feel like part of an exclusive members-only club; the club of rich nations. Sorry, no poor countries allowed.

It also gave us a sense of hope and relief because it meant that all the problems we observed around us – no water, no light, new slums everyday – these were all easily solvable. Nigeria had the money to make all these disappear fast. The minute an honest government took over, it would be farewell problems, hello prosperity. There is great comfort in believing solutions to your problems are within arm’s reach. That all it takes is for X to happen. That’s why demagogues and charlatans will always have followers.

The first time someone challenged my belief I was from a rich country I became agitated. It was a girlfriend of mine who wasn’t Nigerian, one of those annoying types who know things they have no business knowing. I mentioned Nigeria was rich. “No, it isn’t. I checked. It has a smaller economy than some countries with just 5-10 million people like Sweden or Norway and a lower GDP per capita than the likes of Albania, Guatemala or Mongolia which are all considered poor countries,” she retorted. I struggled to contain my anger. What kind of rubbish was this girl telling me? That my entire national self-concept was wrong? Impossible!

I think many Nigerians are still psychologically reluctant to accept Nigeria’s true position in the global pecking order today. Our sense of national self is largely built around the notion that we are a country very rich in natural and human resources, just one good government away from greatness. Some optic illusions further render this belief hard to shake.

In every state, there are a few dozen people (usually involved in politics) who possess such visibly stupendous wealth, we can be forgiven for assuming there is a lot more where that came from. Thing is, there isn’t. If you shared Nigeria’s 8.83 trillion naira national budget equally among Nigerians, each citizen would receive a paltry 45,000 naira or so; hardly enough to keep you in Panadol for the year.

Of course, states have budgets too, but even Lagos, by far Nigeria’s richest city, has a modest 852 billion naira ($2.4 billion) to spend on 15 to 20 million residents this year. For comparison, Johannesburg has double that budget for fewer than 5 million people. And it still struggles to provide basic social services. What we have in Nigeria is a few hundred people looting and squandering such a disproportionate amount of Nigeria’s modest resources that an illusion of plenty is sustained among the populace.

Another factor fuelling this “there is money in Nigeria” belief is that many people pretend to have more of it than they actually do. My friend who runs a crèche in one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in Lagos says she has lost count of the number of parents who drive the most expensive Range Rovers yet struggle to pay their children’s nursery fees on time. Of course, aspirational Nigerians don’t live above their means just because, they do so in response to societal pressure for them to prove they are “somebodies”; worth talking business to, hanging out with and treating respectfully. Raise your hand if you have ever pretended to have more money than you really do so as to be treated respectfully somewhere in Nigeria (my hand is raised high).

But the end result is that when you combine the authentic and visible wealth of a few hundred Nigerians living off the state with the lifestyles of all those trying hard to appear rich, the rest of society can be forgiven for believing there must be a lot of money in Nigeria.

This is bad because it encourages many intelligent people to focus not on thinking of how to create wealth, but on how to corner their own “share” of this fabulous national cake. Either by getting into government or by winning a government contract and then behaving as though the pockets of the state are bottomless.

Another consequence of this illusion is that it diminishes the sense of urgency required to tackle the existential threats Nigeria faces, ranging from mass poverty and unemployment to uncontrolled population growth and growing insecurity. At the back of many minds seems to be the implicit assumption one needn’t worry too much. Things will sort themselves out. There is money in Nigeria.

But Nigeria is not rich. And with its rapidly-expanding population leading to ever scarcer resources, only a furious national focus on wealth-creation can save the country. The Nigerian state, currently viewed by many as a fat cash-cow, is actually a very skinny cow in desperate need of some serious grass in order to stay alive. Else, one day, it will simply stop breathing.
