When you see some of these Nigerian things is when you appreciate being Kenyan. cheesy

First pic is their train cabin. The driver is receiving instructions, casually as they come. Compare that with kenyan train cabin crew and how professional they look. I doubt they have any female train pilots. Kenya on the other hand, had to adhere to the constitutional one third (1/3) gender rule. 1 female pilot to every 3 males at the worst. These images give a glimpse of the length that Nigeria has to go to be at par with kenyan standards.

The Nigerian cabin is so small unlike the kenyan one that is spacious. The Naija drivers will be a tired lot.

The passenger trains on the line can operate at a speed between 200km/h and 250km/h. The travel time between Abuja and Kaduna will be reduced to one hour and each passenger train can carry up to 5,000 commuters.
http://www.signalng.com/abuja-kaduna-railway-project-facts/

Incase you don't know our railway will stretch over 1000km each. When completed its expected to move between 200km/h - 250km/h.

Below is what was renegotiated with the Chinese early last year. This is completely different with what the previous administration negotiated. Even the narrow gauge rail rehabilitated by last administration is now to be upgraded by General Electric.

Duude, you're talking of the capacity of the rail while we are talking of what is already existing. After electrification our SGR too will travel at 250kph but the current Diesel engines have a 160kph maximum speed with an operating speed of 100kph for cargo and 120kph for passenger trains. The existing trains on Abuja - Kaduna SGR can operate at a maximum speed of 100kph. Learn to differentiate capacity from what's actually on ground. Currently there's no train in Nigeria that moves at 250kph.

how about working harder to assist kenya pay their life time debt to China and stop getting frustrated ur children may have issues in the future if u fail to pay for it now. your project is scam and the world knows that, u keeping bringing terrains , loads of goods when ever u have been busted about the prize ..Nigeria and Ethiopia have same worst terrains but could mange to bargain it with cheaper price and better quality and not rubbish station which can be built by any architects and builder with less than $1million ..." the most import aspect of a sgr is the tracks and trains and not stations as no passenger would want stay in a station for more than 10 minutes "me
Locomotives too cost relatively the same amount. So as a country you can always by new locomotives after a few years, for example Kenya plans to buy new locos by 2020 when the track gets electrified by then theire will be enough power., so thats not that important. The most important aspect of a sgr is the tracks period..
And as far as track is concerened, Building embankment and bridges is the most expensive, Ethiopia has a rough terrain, but they chose their rail to pass though carfully thought out terrains while staying on the ground... While in Kenya, The terrain for the first phase was challenging but not that rough relatively speaking, but on the kenyan side, environmental concerens were given highest priority, thats why Kenya has 30km of brisges while Ethiopia SGR has 18km of bridges, thats half of kenyas bridges..

Then the real reason why Ethiopia (and by extension Nigeria ) rail is cheaper per km is because the ethiopian line was build to lower capacity.... The Ethiopian rail was built to class 2 chinese standards while Kenya Rail was built to class 1 standards....
The Ethiopia rail is cheaper BUT is designed to handle a Maximum of 20 Million tonnes per annaum, it can only carry single stacked containers.

WHile The Kenyan rail is a heavy rail built using heavier steel, it can carry upwards of 35Million tonnes per anum, It can carries double stacked containers or pull 216TEU per train with a load of 4000tonnes

So can you give us the details of axle-load of the Nigeria SGR, whats the maximum tonnage the rail can support? cause from this article it seems to sujjest only 880t per train
The travel time between Abuja and Kaduna will be reduced to one hour and each passenger train can carry up to 5,000 commuters.

The cargo trains, carrying 800t of goods , will take one and half hours to travel between the two cities.
http://www.railway-technology.com/projects/abuja-kaduna-rail-line/

Seems like your rail was designed with carrying persengers in mind, while ours was designed with bulk cargo in mind.

Kenya SGR capacity
These passenger locos will usher Kenya into in a new era, it is the backbone of our future long-distance transport system, linking up more and more, towns, cities and countries,” said Maina, adding the line will significantly cut journey times between Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.

SGR will also run freight trains with 54 double stack flat wagons, carrying 216 TEUs (containers) per trip and a trailing load of 4,000 tonnes on each train

At present, the SGR Phase One of the project is in the completion stage of the ancillary works, which include slope protection and drainage systems along sections of the line and fencing of the key facilities in the stations
http://www.capitalfm.co.ke/business/2017/01/sgr-to-carry-1mn-passengers-between-nrb-mbs-annually/

Kenya bought 56 Locomotives, of the 56 only 5 locomotives are for passengers, the rest are for cargo, so its clear that freight will be the main business and thats why a heavier and more expensive rail was needed

look at some of the bridges, some terrains were rough bu in these pictures, you can see that other bridges were build on flat terrain, this was just to allow wildlife to pass through and not hinder their migration routes, thats it, all those bridges just for wildlife

The one we have now moves at 160km/h. When the train was launched they used the engine which was used for construction and testing while waiting for the main one to come. Stop posting trash.

“The speed is going to be improved upon from 100 Km/h to 150 Km/h when the passenger locomotives come, say, September, because the locomotive we are using now is the one used for construction.
